Projects that inspire for Valentine's Day By Rachel Horon DIY Valentines Gifts is a neat collection of gift ideas that come from the heart rather than the store. I appreciate the gifts that are simple but still appealing and relevant to the person receiving it. My kids are ready to try some of the projects with items we already have in the house. In fact, I am planning on doing the fruit fortune snack for this week's lunches to try it out for a special snack time in the future. The apron is a project I can do with my limited sewing experience. Many projects can easily inspire additions you can make to a project or projects you can make even if it is not Valentines Day. I did get distracted by typos and a few editing errors, but the colorful photos and clever crafts have helped me come up with new gift ideas this holiday. This book is sure to inspire!

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays - I like the feelings and chocolate associated with that day. Often I feel like there's too much money spent on gifts and extreme demonstration of affection. It can be simplier and more from the heart instead of wallet! I saw this book and thought "Here's what I've been looking for!" This book provided me with many ideas which are one of a kind and more from the heart. I especially like the heart tree and French Toast. I will use those two and Heart Shaped Churro idea as well. I think these's will be memorable because I'm doing something and not buying something. My girl really like churros. Great book for those looking to step outside of the box.

I would rather go to the mall and purchase something randomly ;) …. But - I didn’t mind reading this one since I downloaded it for free. Nonetheless , it is an interesting book. It has some really easy DIY Valentine’s day gift ideas and will definitely impress anyone that you make them for. A good resource to read if you are in to experiments and making unique romantic gifts . Some of them that really caught my attention were – DIY Story in a Heart , DIY Tuxedo Heart Gift box and DIY Book Vault.The instructions are clear and even the ‘not-so-crafty’ kind of people can also make some good stuff through this. Nice book. Give it a try !!

Daunting but Hopeful By Kindle Customer Nicely written sequel to the well done "77 Days of September", this story has some holes for sure but makes for an interesting read. I did find the reason for Kyle's trip to more than a bit contrived, and the mystery really wasn't one at all. On the other hand, the reappearance of an old friend was a welcomed one. Ty was a great character as well and plays a nice role in the story. Personally, I thought the community situation seems a little too prosperous given the state of the world but I guess the author didn't want to write a book too gloomy for people to read. All in all, a pretty good effort. I would give three and a half stars but had to round up since this is better than a three star story.SPOILER ALERT:I really enjoyed reading Rose's journey but once she got to the community, she seemed to disappear until the end of the book. Nothing is really shown of Kyle's reunion with her and it was like the author left out a chapter or two there.

If I remember correctly the first book was the authors first attempt at writings book and it was a commendable effort and well worth the read. Even though I'd highly recommend that you read the first book before reading this one, this book could be read by itself and enjoyed. It is obvious from this book that the writers craft is evolving into something very special to enjoy, if there's a book number three I will be buying it. Enjoy the read.

A good sequel By Lyn I think that if I had read this book first I would not have been as interested in the series, but I read the "77 Days in September" first and couldn't wait to find out what happened after Kyle got home. Writing a sequel that was just as good as the first book had to be tough and I didn't think it was as good, however, if another book in this series comes along I would definitely read it. I have to say that I love the writer's style and it is a pleasure to read a book about events such as the one in the book without reading pages and pages of info on what type of guns everyone has and all the ammo that they use in those guns and what kind of range the guns have and what type of sites (spelling?) the guns have etc. I have two guns myself and my husband hunts and has guns so I am not anti-gun but enough is enough. This author puts the focus on the people and their feelings and reactions. Not everyone is good and not everyone is evil. The events in this sequel were sometimes a little hard to imagine as believable. Kyle should be nominated for sainthood....no grudges and eternal patience. It is nice to think that a community could pull together under the kind of stress that this community faces. I live in a small, rural town and no one can agree on something a simple as a leash law for dogs but I would like to believe that communities can come together in emergencies. The ending was an interesting twist and now what happens?

If there were 6 stars that's what I would give it as that is how much I love this book! The projects are so fresh and modern. They range in scale from tiny desk top photo holders that incorporate unique recycled elements to super-sized wall art and everything in between. There are projects that you can wear and others to decorate in 3-D. One of my favorite aspects to some of the projects is the shapes the photos are cut into. They go beyond the standard rectangle and really add another fun element to the creation that will set it apart. There is also a nice section on image transfer.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. My Students Loved This Book! By Christina My 4th grade students wanted to learn origami during our art week. So I decided to search for some origami books that would keep the attention of a 4th grader but also be easy enough to understand. I then came across this book during my search and I thought it was absolutely perfect. The books most incredible attribute is the variety of so many creations. I thought for sure my students would be happy with their noses in this book and paper in their fingers trying to make such different shapes.I love how the book has an entire section on the different types of folds which was a really helpful guide when going through the basics with my students on day one. By day two all of the kids were enjoying just the folds section alone! But they were really eager to start folding into full creations so we went ahead and by the end of the week all of my students had at least 4 beautiful and unique creations each (some made up to 10!) They now have many origami creations to be proud of and they all got A’s! I am very happy that I chose this book to use to teach my students origami, I don’t think I would have had as much success as I would with another book. This one was awesome!

It features young creative's from 8-18 sharing their original projects all in excellent detail. The book starts out with notation and techniques naming the basic folds used to start these adorable models. My personal favorite was Alfred Hitchcock, designed by a 14 year old! Author JC Nolan did a fantastic job of displaying the steps to each origami - since this book is "designed by and for kids" each design is clearly numbered, with arrows pointing the direction of the fold and clear illustrations of each step. The difficulty ranges from beginner to rather advanced folders so no matter the previous level of experience the child has; they will progress. I highly recommend this book to any child from age 8 to 108!

We recently tried it out, Well, not me so much, I tried and failed and called in daddy for backup! This was our first go at origami, and it was definitely challenging to say the least. I guess I just didn't realize how much thought goes into it. It's a little embarrassing when I know it was created by an 8 year old and I can't even figure it out...hahaha!Have no fear though, there is a whole section in the `Origami Kids' book that explains in great lengths what different types of folds there are...Who knew? And kids created these models...Amazing!Well at first I attempted the baby bald eagle, which was created by Julia Ko, an 8 yr. old and a level 1 challenge. Yea I made it to fold 4 out of 13 and just could not figure it out...I'm certain it is probably easy, but I just wasn't getting it...sigh!Besides the Origami book I was also sent a pack of special Origami paper, which if you've never seen or heard of this it is actually pretty cool, it's thinner and has a different color on each side of the paper...they even have some with a shiny side! So I opened this up and it had a simple little booklet in it which had super easy Origami ideas in it...Shwew!so...lol...My girls ages 7, 6 & 3 made a cat and a dog:-)Origami Kids contains 32 unique and original origami projects for little folders which were designed by children between the ages of 8 and 18 years old from all around the world.I was both impressed and intimidated by this book. They have some fantastic designs like a rocket, flower arrangement, jester, spotted bunny, multi-form star, surfer on a wave, tower boxes, Alfred Hitchcock and so many more. They are all very creative, and if you and your child love to create and conquer origami you would really enjoy this book.All the proceeds for "Origami Kids" are donated to OrigamiUSA and "Origami by Children" to foster creativity and exploration in young designers and folders.Origami is definitely an art form that can sometimes take a lot of time, patience and skill. Through this book they hope to inspire youthful folders to design and document models of their very own.Origami is a wonderful tool to foster thinking skills and creativity within our children, and I'm sure we will continue to try to master this skill. My girls really enjoyed this and have been asking to do this every day since trying it. BloodSteampunkSexMagic By John Green, NCGBT ***Disclaimer: I received a free copy in exchange for a review.***What's Good: it's a fast-moving, multi-layered, complex story that I read in one sitting. Plot has a lot of meat to it. Politics, intrigue, (not-so) chance encounters- there's a lot of the stuff I like to read about going on here. The magic system is intriguing as is the setting- which draws from real world events and figures. There's some pretty interesting characters- I liked Sabine and Giancarlo a lot- and aside from the main arc there's some nifty sub-plots in the works as well.What's Bad: there's so much going on here, you need a scorecard to keep track of it all. It's only the second book, so there's no reason not to provide a summary of the first book or a glossary to bring new readers up to speed. I was completely lost at times for not knowing who's who or what's what so just had to accept it and keep rolling. The constantly shifting perspectives and frequent head-hopping also muddled things a bit.What's Left: The sexual dynamics will throw you for a loop at first. Even though there's a reason for two sisters marrying the same man and simultaneously sleeping with him, without the context from the first book to frame it you'll be shaking your head for a good chunk of the book. Once you get past that (if you can), there's a lot to like here. I'm definitely interested to read the first one and the next when it comes out.

Life as a thresome is not easy, with the only way for them to join, is as three. There is no two-time. An overnight stay in a stop over on the way turns into something more sinister, something more deadly, something that could possibly tear them apart, and cause the deadth of yet another baby.I found this as good as, but not better than book one, The Wizard's Daughters. Its tone is different, hence the filing on the darker/grittier shelf. Astrid and Ariel find themselves involoved in a centuries old bargain with a witch that is stealing children. When that bargain comes a little close to home for the ruling Philip, he tries to cheat the witch out of her prize, but the witch is not to be stopped and she will have her child. Astrid and Ariel find their colour changes, and their power too, and, while this is not yet fully answered in this book, I really need to know what will happen to them, how this will effect them, because clearly, its very important if thier father is running across the country in the dead of winter. So I'm hoping that comes in book three, and I get a chance to read it too.Full of magic and mystery, full of lots of characters and their part in this story starting off seperate and coming together. It has some violence, more so than book one, I thought, but again, relatively clean. There are some characters based on real people, and it tells you about that in the back of the book, but I didn't read it. That is a good thing. Michael Dalton has proven that without erotica as the glue binding the e-pages he is a top notch writer. This story is really well written, with rich characters, interesting plot twists, and a great topic.I read this to the end quickly--on the edge of my seat--despite incredible eye discomfort thanks to the slow recuperation of a corneal abrasion in my right eye. By the end I was sincerely wishing that Astrid and Ariel (the twin mages) could leap out of the book and use their talents for naturalism to heal my cornea. I was holding one eye shut with one hand and reading with my good eye rather than put the book down because it was too enjoyable. This installment was every bit as interesting as the first book in the series, but this one’s plot was one magic spring drop more complex, which really grabbed my interest.Dalton is onto something magical here, not just because many of the characters are mages, but because the alternate history, the paranormal, the erotic, and the steampunk all blend together marvelously. Do yourself and have a look for yourself. I’m already looking forward to the next book in this series. Something tells me Matthias is not going to take the events of Book 2 well and this will lead to trouble.*This book was provided to me by the author as an Advanced Review Copy for my honest review.

One of the great things about this book is that is has both smaller and larger versions of the same design. If you aren't sure you're ready for the more intricate designs this could be a good starting place. You can try out the more intricate designs while having the option of coloring the larger version as well. I own another of her books and intend to purchase the rest of them.
