The story is essentially the same, but the two editions do have different covers. The new edition also has additional photographs and information at the beginning and end of the book.The Kindle format is in the new edition. For this release, an improved format was used and the photographs are in color.Under Movies, there is a related DVD. A Marvelous Mustang: Training Step by Step is supplement to the printed book.
About the Author For over sixty years, Janice Ladendorf has trained her own hunters and dressage horses. She is the author of books and many articles advocating the use humane training methods to build a partnership with your horse. She has been a librarian, an inventory analyst, and an accountant. She is retired and currently lives in St. Paul, MN.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Wow! Rare & Fantastic!!! By Sharon Porter We all like animal stories. But, how many have you read told from the view of the animal itself. This book is truly a rare fantastic treat. Years of close observation, exact notes, personal experience and skill let the author tell this story. This is the world as the horse views it. You do not have to like or know anything about Spanish Mustangs to enjoy this one. There is not a trainer, horseman or animal lover that will not enjoy and benefit from this tale. I only wish I could give it more than five stars.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. A wonderful and unique horse book By Jeanne Brewer A wonderful true story about a wild horse who comes to live with humans. It is unique in that it is told from the horse's point of view. I thouroughly enjoyed reading about the trust and special bond that was built over the years between this horse and his owner and the good no-nonsense training techniques that were used. A book with something for everyone.

It's about this book which totally grabbed me -- a love story really, and so cleverly written. I found myself fond both of the horse and of the woman who belongs to him. Then there's the purpose of the story, I think, to make us aware of the fact that animals are sensate creatures to be treated gently and kindly. The psychologist in me likes the obvious fact that kindness and creatively careful timing do much more than punishment to produce the kind of behavior we hope to evoke. True for children and adults too. This book makes it hard to ignore that fact. Try it, whoever you are. You'll like it! In fact, I've recommended it on facebook.
