You might think it's a spin-off to the New Scooby-Doo Movies, but since one episode with Batman and Robin, they knew it was the time to do this comic series. This book is Volume 1, which collects Issue 1-6 of the series pairing Scooby and Mystery Inc. with your favorite DC Superheroes.In this book, we get the appearances by Batman and Robin, Ace the Bat-Hound, Bat-Mite, the Teen Titans Go characters, Wonder Woman, and Super Friends, with Aquaman and Supergirl. Villians include the Man-Bat, Scarecrow, Duke of Deception, the Legion of Doom, and I think that's it.In issue 1, Scooby, Mystery Inc., Batman and Robin team-up once again to stop the menacing Man-Bat, along with three criminals who were disguised as Man-Bat.In issue 2, Scooby teams up with Batman's partner, Ace the Bat-Hound, to stop the Scarecrow (and fulfill his dream as the magnificent Dog Wonder) when Scarecrow uses his fear gas to distract Mystery Inc. and the Mystery Analysts of Gotham City with their overactive imaginations.In issue 3, Things went awry when Bat-Mite shows up and makes things crazy, and also there's a new mite in this issue and its name...is Scooby-Mite. I mean, 'Crisis on Infinite Scoobies'? Really?!? < : )In issue 4, Robin (the Teen Titans Go version of himself, not the one who's with Batman last 3 issues) and the Teen Titans Go versions of Cyborg, Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy had called Mystery Inc. to Titans Tower to investigate the hauntings in their home. And also Wonder Woman had called them to investigate strange stuff happening in her home, Paradise Island, and since the guys aren't allowed to set foot on it, thanks to Aphrodite's rule, they want Scooby to see it. Oh, and Wonder Woman tells them that Batman recommeded them to do this mystery. Then they deals with a Red Bull, a Cyclops, and a Hydra. In the end, it was the work of the Duke of Deception, but he defeated for now. And Daphne and Velma became honorary amazons.In issue 6, the Super Friends (consisted of Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Robin, and Supergirl) call upon Mystery Inc. to investigate the hauntingsin their headquarters, the Hall of Justice. And since people will notice them, they decided to disguise as their Junior Super Friends. It turned out it was the work of the Legion of Doom (consisted of Lex Luthor, Cheetah, Sinestro, Gorilla Grodd, Solomon Gundy, Scarecrow, and Brainiac) who disguised as the Rainbow Ghosts attacking the Super Friends, and also Bizarro shows up as well, but the Super Friends aren't gone, they were shrinked by Brainiac, who was the green ghost, and were trapped in a jar. So the battle rages on, and the funny part is there's a giant octopus in the swimming pool and Sinestro's ring is attracted to Shaggy and Scooby. So the day is saved thanks to the Super Friends, Scooby and Mystery Inc., after Shaggy show the new card for Fred's Super Friends collection, which shows Mystery Inc. and the Super Friends.This series is the greatest thing they had to do for us fans of Scooby. This series was written by Sholly Fisch, and drawn by Dario Brizula.Next time, we'll check out Volume 2 of Scooby-Doo Team-Up which collects issues #7-12! Thanks for enjoying it.

By Lilikins I had never heard of companion gardening and yet after reading this terrific and educational book, I wonder why companion gardening is not more mainstream as up to 8000 years ago the indigenous Americans grew squash, maize and beans because of the symbiotic relationship.We all know garlic repels germs, but if you grow garlic near your roses, rose pests will be discouraged - I only wish my grandfather had known this, he would have been delighted. Marigolds and potatoes are great companions as are leeks and strawberries. You will find that opposites really do attract in this fascinating game of gardening love matches.Companion gardening was popular in the 70's and is now having a revival. This book will make clear all the benefits from space saving, increased yield, fewer nasty pests, more friendly insects as well as plants that give natural shade or form a trellis. As a beginning gardener, I didn’t know much about companion gardening, yet is makes sense from an ecological point of view. I had heard that by pairing certain plants, you can reduce the amount of pesticides, which is very important for our environment and our health. This book provides a clear path to choosing which vegetables and herbs to plant together, and even which pairings to avoid. Highly recommended!

But first, this is how the book fits in with the last and the story: In the previous picture book, The Country Cat Family and the Cold Weather!, we met the members of the family and how they spent their time in anticipation of the warmer season when Palamino and Carmella could go outside and explore the woods. In this book, they do that with almost CATastrophic consequences! In the process of learning how to climb trees, chasing bugs and each other, running, jumping over limbs and a host of other pictured activities, Palamino manages to get lost in the woods, inspite of his parents watching over both Carmella and him. If only he had paid attention to Dad! Carmella steps up to save the day. Bravely, she volunteers to go into the woods and find her brother. Though she is scared at times, she discovers things about herself that she thought she could never do, like jumping over trees and navigating through the woods. When she finds Palamino, she leads him back home, but not before he tells her he is going to reveal a BIG SECRET later that evening. That is the surprise climax of the story in book three.

House originally published this book in the 1920's, having a half-century of solid experience under his belt. Paraphrasing his words, "I had my first big win ... at the Dairy Show of 1890." The original price of this book was "One Shilling and Sixpence" which is retained on the authentically reproduced cover. I couldn't resist buying this one, and I'm very glad I did so. House wrote about what he knew from his own successes and failures as a breeder, fancier, and exhibitor. The nineteenth-century prose is elegant and parsimonious. No more could be said on this subject in more or fewer pages. House clearly stated when his opinions were injected into the otherwise factual text. House was not a man of secrets: rather he was a man who promoted the keeping of Bantam chickens more than he loved his own accomplishments. He would be delighted, I think, to know that his work remains meaningful into the 21st Century. The small size of this book can be deceiving if modern patterns of verbosity are generalized to the past. House wrote no more than necessary to convey his thoughts accurately and skillfully. In fewer than 120 pages, C. A. House has given the reader more useful, accurate information than can be found in many any of the larger books on the subject. Though his title and subjects are Bantams, keepers of large fowl will find this work nearly as helpful. I find it a welcome addition to my family library, and it will be read over and over in the years to come. I can think of no higher praise for a book on this subject. I don't know the exchange rate for "One Shilling and Sixpence" into 2006 American Dollars, but it's worth every penny.

This book was written an extremely long time ago and dealt mostly with the bantam breeds for show. How to keep them was outdated years ago. Very informative if raising show birds.

The characters and the story captured my attention, with Boogle running away with a magical storyline that was imaginative, lighthearted, and just plain fun. The setting is quickly described, giving enough detail to immerse the reader, but Order, Meeo, and 'The Bug' really carry the adventure along at a fast clip. I was never able to out-guess where the author was heading with the plot, and I enjoyed the introduction of an all-powerful Chaos Overlord to round out the narrative.It's a story that can be read in minutes but enjoyed more than once. I would recommend it for children and adults -- everyone will find something that tickles their sci-fi funny-bone in the pages of this unique tale.

Meeks This second book in the Hardstorm series was equally as good as the first book but pretty much unlike it it in almost every way. Tera and Batumar embark on an almost impossible journey to bring allies together to fight off the coming war with the Dark Emperor.You can see pieces of many of the epic fantasy we have all read over the years and that is Ok since we love that stuff :)As with any epic fantasy there is heartbreak, tragedy, tribulations and hope. Throw in some random evil and a prophesy that seems to be coming together regardless of whether Tera wishes it and you have a riveting story.Again as with book 1 there are multiple plots and a buildup to an epic finish which again is nothing new but that is almost the definition of epic fantasy even if it has more romantic elements than most I have read (which is a good thing)If I had any real complaints it would have to be a minor one about dropping to many hints of a mystery we had kinda figured out before it was revealed. A mention here and there randomly would be fine, it was almost to the point of being "Hey, look here, this is a hint!"Our heroine keeps getting stronger and I am looking for a great finish, I have not heard if this is going to be a trilogy or if it is going to be milked out as a series (let us hope not, I will never forget how horribly the Wheel of Time and the Sword of Truth kept cranking out sequels until nobody really wanted to read them anymore)Bottom Line: Great follow-up to book 1, keeps you involved, again I felt that I did not get some revenge I needed but I can keep hoping. Highly recommended and I can't wait for the next one. NOTE: I had to come back and add this sentence, this second book is much more like epic fantasy than book 1 in that the romantic elements are much less part of the story after about the first 20-25%, this does not make it less enjoyable and in fact I give the author kudos for not trying to force it into the story when it really does not fit for the great majority of this novel but she deftly injects it at the perfect times.

By Angela No spoilers - just my honest review:Book 2 - definitely slower than book one (which is a feat considering how much terrain is covered in this book.) And the deification of Tera continues, but that is to be expected, since she’s the prophesied savior of the world, right?Marton's strength continues to be in her wonderful character development for the majority of her major players. And I appreciate Marton’s continued situational twists, not making it easy on Tera at all to be in the ‘savior’ role. Because of this, I continue to care about her journey and each new challenge that she faces. (Although, there was one scene in particular where I thought the price was a little too heavy. The whole thing felt more for shock value than anything else and I did have a strong “Wtf! Really?? We’re going there???” reaction to it. But if Marton and her editor(s) thought it was necessary… okey dokey.)The con is, as always, in the world building. The different countries and cultures are shallow at best, poorly defined, and sort of blend into each other like a watercolor painting under a running faucet. The final conflict of this book didn't feel all that epic (sort of been there, done that from book one) because I wasn't really invested in the people/land that hosted the fight. I didn't know them, they were completely interchangable with every other land/people under threat from the 'big bad' in this ocean world.Anyway, we get some really good twists in this next chapter and some new companions as well - a tiger, a wraith, and a merchant slaver who all add more character depth to this world in a wonderful way.I definitely recommend this installment if you were a fan of Reluctant Concubine.

(minor spoilers)1. What type of book is it: adventure, action, drama, etc? This volume tries to be an epic fantasy adventure. Its romance fails to build on the previous installment’s base.2. What is the story about, in general? The story is about Tera, healing her way through a war torn land, gathering allies and sending them into battle.3. What/Who is the target audience? Teenage, YA and Adult ladies.4. How is the editing and proofreading? The book needs a good edit. Most of the story is narrated, with little dialogue involved. A lot of the story is told instead of shown. It felt monotonous even in action scenes. The use of were/was dominates some areas of the book. The proofreading is above average, but I did catch a clear error here and there.5. Is there character development or exploration? Yes. Tera is further explored as a sorceress, but the basic characteristics of her personality don’t change. Her actions lack depth and the oddly worded ‘voice’ of the first volume. With one bland exception, the descriptions of all new characters end on their skin; generic, external, without individual insight as to how the main character views their personalities.6. Are the characters likable? The characters are generally forgettable. They felt bland and generic. Thus, I can’t say I like any of them because I didn’t get emotionally involved in their welfare. Their synergy is sparse, disjointed, uncoordinated and mostly TOLD instead of shown.7. Do you have to suspend disbelief? The events surrounding Tera and Batumar strained my disbelief to extremes. Two very improbable coincidences must exist for this story thread to continue. Worst still, I predicted the resolution. Thus, that particular twist didn’t ‘get’ me.8. Does the story keep its pacing? No. For the second book in a romance series, this book has very little romance. Thus, what’s the point of writing a romance book that lacks romance?The book is mostly a narration of Tera’s tribulations. Dialogue gave way to explanations of personal sacrifices, epic battles, burned villagers and such. The reader rarely experiences the adrenaline rush of the ever present conflict. Worst still, many powerful dramatic scenes lack the language and imagery necessary to really pump the pacing. We’re TOLD about them, not shown.9. Is the book worth the asking price? The $4 price tag, combined with the 99 cents of the previous book, averages around $2.50 per book. That’s really cheap.In conclusion: The author uses many events in succession to increase pacing, but most of the story is told through observations and impression. It felt like reading an impersonal journal. Most of the characters lack description and depth. Some big coincidences felt forced. The book has a certain degree of predictability which did not enchant. There is very little drama romance. The editing needs a little polish to get rid of all the repetitive was/were verbs and to axe all the ‘telling’. The proofreading is good, but some words are misspelled. The price is fairly cheap and accessible. This book forgets an important factor: it’s supposed to be a romance story. The writing style is still above most authors, but I can’t say this volume impressed me.2.8 Stars

They are relaxing to color and gratifying to complete.

That said, I was disappointed with this book because I thought the designs would be like the ones she had in the Global Doodle Gem book that I have. Very very intricate. These to me look like they would be good for a beginning colorist, just not what I was after. The spaces are a bit larger, so you would probably need a regular type marker and not the .03 Staedtlers.
