Following Shanti's decision to leave Cayan's town, she follows rumours about a man who's a ghost. Thinking he may be her brother she eventually tracks him down in the enemy's camp. There she not only finds her brother but also an unknown man who talks in riddles and seems to be a guide. With her escape and the much talked about Hunter on her trails she finds herself once more in the path of Cayan and her honour guard, making hard decisions. Discovering Cayan's past may also help unlock his immense powers This time she's not by herself as she finds herself trusting in the people around her and sets out to the Shadowlands as danger follows close on their heels.With impressive fighting scenes and emotion running through the pages, the Hunted pulls the reader into the story and has your heart racing to see where it leads. K.F Breene delivers just as she did in her darkness series and makes you care for the people in the story and has you cheering for the good guys even while seeing the path of the enemy.I can't wait to see where this story goes and i totally recommend this. Time to let our females fight.

By Holli When I finished the first book in this series, Chosen, I didn't think it could get any better.Alas, I was wrong. BOY was I wrong. I could not put Hunted down. I was reading it between calls at work, on breaks, while eating dinner, I was addicted. I could not stop reading. And then, the unthinkable happened. But we'll get to that in a minute.In Chosen we learned a lot about Shanti and what drives her, a little about Cayan. In Hunted we learn more about both of these exciting and complex characters.We also get to see a glimpse of how Shanti used to be when she is with her brother Rohnan, and we see the background characters evolving as well.With the Hunter coming after them, Xandre aka the Being Supreme still a huge threat, the action never stops. Shanti draws more allies to their cause and continues on her journey with Cayan, Sanders, Burson, her Honor Guard and Rohnan to the Shadow Lands to undertake the trials to become the Chosen. (Burson calls her the Wanderer).Hunted will have you hooked from the first and when the unthinkable happens, you will be going no, no, NO and looking for the next book in this exciting series. Hopefully K.F. Breene doesn't keep us waiting too long.

Chosen was amazing and gave us a great understanding of our characters, but Hunted was so meaty I will be full for days! Only days though, so the next book needs to get here in a hurry.Shanti is on her journey to fulfill her role a Chosen, and encounters many additions to her close circle; some are pieces of her old life returning to her, and others are new, interesting additions to the already amazing cast of characters. The growth of Shanti and Cayan’s understanding of not only their powers – and how they interact – but also of each other.This Ms. Breene is very sneaky in how she includes small bits of romance into this book, but make no mistake – while it is a underlying feature, Hunted is focused on the journey, not the destination.I fell in love with Shanti in Chosen; her vulnerable yet fiercely determined personality was endearing. We now get a bit more insight into her emotions and the toll they take on her. Shanti proves her self more with every decision that she is the person that does the right thing, not the easy thing. Plus, she is a bad-ass warrior – who wouldn’t root for her?Cayan is, gah! Wonderful!! He refuses to stay separated from Shanti, even after her less than stellar departure. The thing I love the most about him is that even though you can totally tell he is in love with her (though I don’t know if he know that yet), he knows that they need to be together for the greater good and that is a driving force for him.All of our favorite characters are back plus some new ones that add so much to the story – but I won’t tell you. I am not a spoiler!! I am SO excited to see how The Warrior Chronicles plays out!!!!

A Dreamer's Tales is the fifth book by Irish fantasy writer Lord Dunsany, considered a major influence on the work of J. R. R. Tolkien, H. P. Lovecraft, Ursula LeGuin and others. It was first published in hardcover by George Allen & Sons in September, 1910, and has been reprinted a number of times since. Issued by the Modern Library in a combined edition with The Sword of Welleran and Other Stories as A Dreamer's Tales and Other Stories in 1917. The book is actually Dunsany's fourth major work, as his preceding book, The Fortress Unvanquishable, Save for Sacnoth (March, 1910), was a chapbook reprinting a single story from his earlier collection The Sword of Welleran and Other Stories (October, 1908). In common with most of Dunsany's early books, A Dreamer's Tales is a collection of fantasy short stories. About the Author Edward John Moreton Drax Plunkett, 18th Baron of Dunsany (24 July 1878 – 25 October 1957) was an Irish writer and dramatist, notable for his work, mostly in fantasy, published under the name Lord Dunsany. More than eighty books of his work were published, and his oeuvre includes many hundreds of published short stories, as well as successful plays, novels and essays.

Classic Dunsany, but Wildside Press edition is worthless By Richard Kukan Wildside Press does much good by resurrecting rare old books, but this edition of Dunsany's classic has some of the worst typos I have ever seen. For example:Page 34: Instead of "Never since then have I seen my city alive," Wildside has: "Now since then have I seen my city alive," disastrously reversing the meaning of the sentence, at the very climax of "The Madness of Andelsprutz".Page 111: Instead of "But the folk of the Weald arose and went back well-fed to their byres," Wildside has: "But the talk of the Weald arose and went back well-fed to byres" (two errors in one line!).Page 113: A line has dropped out! Instead of ". . . and beat the roses against cottagers' panes, and whispered news of the befriending night," Wildside has: ". . . and beat the roses of the befriending night"--ruining one of Dunsany's more evocative passages.And most ridiculous of all, at the climax of "Blagdaross", instead of "Saladin is in this desert with all his paynims", we get "Saladin is in this desert with all his pyjamas"!And so on. These errors might be a minor annoyance encountered in, say, "War and Peace", but Dunsany's tales are very short, very carefully crafted, every word selected with care and precision. They are more nearly poetry than prose. Errors of this kind GLARE at the reader.Wildside boasts that this edition is "authorized" by the Dunsany estate, but Dunsany would have been infuriated by it. Wildside needs to issue a corrected version, and maybe an apology.

Worley _A Dreamer's Tales_ consists of 16 short stories (I've sorted them by title rather than order of appearance); it's in print as I write this, as part of the Fantasy Masterworks edition of _Time and the Gods_."The Beggars" - The cloaked strangers, begging gracefully, as gods beg for souls, had a gift for seeing past the dreary surface of life in the city."Bethmoora" - a story of the desolation of Bethmoora, a city at the desert's edge."Blagdaross" - As twilight falls upon a rubbish heap, all the castoff things therein find voices to remember where they have been. Among them is the rocking-horse Blagdaross."Carcassonne" - It was prophesied to Camorak at Arn that he should never come to Carcassonne, but he decided to defy Fate."The Day of the Poll" - Since everyone in the town had gone raving mad on election day, the lonely poet set out to trap and save an intelligence for company."The Field" - Why is it the field of king-cups, and not the hideous ugliness of the town, that is covered with an ominous feeling of foreboding?"The Hashish Man" - Another visitor to Bethmoora picks up the tale."The Idle City" - The city's custom was that anyone who wished to enter must pay a toll of one story at the gate."Idle Days on the Yann" - the story of a journey on the ship _Bird of the River_ down the Yann, and of the cities along the Yann."The Madness of Andelsprutz" - The city of Andelsprutz had been conquered, and stolen from the land of Akla. What happens to the souls of conquered cities?"Poltarnees, Beholder of Ocean" - The Inner Lands are those three kingdoms which have no view of the sea, being bounded on the west by the mountain Poltarnees. But none who had ever climbed Poltarnees from the very earliest times had ever come back again..."Poor Old Bill" - the Captain never talked to the ship's crew, except sometimes in the evening he would talk a bit to the me!n he had hanged at the yard-arm. Technically that describes the fictional cities in the first story of "A Dreamer's Tales," but it could easily have described Lord Dunsany's fantastical mind. Full of invented legends and exotic characters, Dunsany's short stories are a wonderful early fantasy read.He writes about desert cities, where the sea is only a legend; of a rocking horse that revels in a little boy's fantasies; of cities that are "quite dead; of dreams and redemption, long-dead cities that were supposedly going to last forever, prophets and swords, desert curses and terrible, beautiful gods.There are boats on the banks of the Yann river, the "everlasting" city of Zaccarath, a stone age tale of religion and sacrifice, and the hashish man. Most striking is "The Field," in which Dunsany experiences strange feelings while sitting in a field of flowers -- a field with a terrible secret.Dunsany had a masterful flair for exotic-edged fantasy. Before anyone had ever heard of J.R.R. Tolkien or "The Hobbit," Dunsany was spinning his stories. And while Tolkien has been the most powerful influence on modern fantasy, Dunsany did his share too -- he can be seen in descriptions of beautiful temples and desert cities.His writing style is typical of the late 19th/early 20th century, rather formal and ornate. But the imagination of the stories frees them up. "I dreamt that I had done a horrible thing, so that burial was to be denied me either in soil or sea, neither could there be any hell for me," Dunsany says ominously at the start of one story. About the Author American author and dramatist, Baum is famous as the creator of children's classic tale, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900). The magic of Oz was continued in thirteen more novels; the final book, Glinda of Oz, being published posthumously. Baum started writing as a young boy and his early literary efforts included the initiation and publication of two magazines: The Rose Lawn Home Journal, and The Stamp Collector. He loved the theatre and acted in many plays under the name Louis F. Baum. He himself wrote several plays, of which The Maid of Arran is regarded as the best. Baum also edited and wrote for the Aberdeen Saturday Pioneer. Being a prolific writer, Baum wrote more than 60 books in his lifetime. Using several pen names like Edith Van Dyke, Floyd Akers, and Suzanne Metcalf, he penned several popular books including the Aunt Jane's Nieces series, and the Boy Fortune Hunters' series. His other books include Mother Goose in Prose (1897), Songs of Father Goose (1900), Dot and Tot of Merryland (1901), The Magical Monarch of Mo (1903), Queen Zixi of Ix (1905), and Sky Island (1912).

There are no illustrations in this particular edition. Be aware of that, if you like the book enough, and consider finding a more robust printing to love and keep on a book shelf. Ultimately, though, any reader will find an extremely enjoyable read here.

Stories with a moral AND interesting illustrations By A Customer This book gives interesting stories with a moral at the end of each story and has illustrations on each page. The stories vary in length but can be read quickly due to the author's writing style. While different from "Oz" books, these stories are still a lot of fun.

I can see it much better with illustrations and pictures.This book is a consolidation of idea on how to better your life and surroundings, Sometimes common sense ideas just need to be put together in one place to spark ideas for us and save us time by not having to search the internet for the information. If this sounds like you, then this is the book for you.I know people who liked Marie Kondo's book "The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up," or White Lemons book " DIY, 365 days of DIY" you'll really love this book. The author's other book, "Eliminate Procrastination with Two Simple Tools" available on Amazon Kindle is another good place to go for kick starting your desire to clean up your life..The book has a lot of information. A very handy space storage guide By Jem Friar - PDC I have to say that this book has been incredibly useful for me & was just what I needed at the moment, as I had been feeling a bit overwhelmed with the gathering clutter in my house. There are some eminently brilliant ideas for storing loads of different things within the storage areas that i already have. It's about learning how to use them more efficiently. I appreciated that the concepts of recycle, re-use & repair (as well as give the unneeded to charity) were part of the overall picture. I also found the "de-cluttering" advice really helpful.All in all, avery timely quick & easy guide.

By Donna Hopkins After reading Laura's first self help book I decided to try this one and I am glad I did. Somehow she has managed to hit two areas that I need help in procrastination and organization. I save everything and I am an impulse collector. Several ideas in this book will help me get better organized and some of the suggestions for just letting go of things are sinking in. I feel sometimes like I could easily cross the line into the world of hoarders so I am thankful for the advice in this book. This book is easy to read and surprisingly has a voice that shines through even though it is a self help book. I would buy again from this author and look forward to her next works, maybe she can fix something else that needs fixing in me........

65 of 70 people found the following review helpful. 3.5 Stars; Promising Story Starts Off Strong But Loses Steam Around 2/3rds of the Way Through By Dr.Gonzo In this creatively imagined tale of the end of the world as we know it, we follow a group of people who are attempting to make sense of the after effects of a meteor strike in the US. There is something that came on the meteor called "The Blight" and it seems to be spreading....The best part of this story was the creative backdrop. You have people living in bunkers (like in Wool) and you have raiders living in the desert (like Mad Max) and you have monsters galore. The story starts off strong. I really enjoyed book 1.Book 2 was decent but at this point I started getting a little annoyed. It seems like the characters get into an unsurvivable situation and then, by luck, survive, only to have the same thing happen again. And again. I would have liked to see more close call escapes based on their wit and daring rather than their luck.It was during book 3 that I gave up. I had just had enough and the plot twists started becoming too hard to suspend disbelief for. I made it to 82% of this omnibus but i don't think I'll finish. Somewhere around the end of book 2 I just stopped caring about the characters' fates.

It's okay By readalot As far as the storyline itself, it's a good start.The author would benefit greatly from an editor to correct the overabundance of commas that interrupt the flow at the most inopportune times.Given the brevity of book four that I purchased a few days ago at the price of $2.99 and is now priced at $3.99 (as is book five), I've reached the end of reading this series. There is no true ending to each book. It simply cuts off and is picked up in the next one.Book four has a number of repetitious passages that an editor could easily fix.

I liked where this book started but it just turned into one predictable narrow escape after another. I made it through these first three but can't go on. And seriously, what is up with the random blind oracle guy? I mean, come on.

By Emil Alstrup Malmberg "Journeymage" by Terry Mancour is the latest book in the Spellmonger universe and the fifth main book (not counting short stories, anthologies or cadet novels) in which the protaganist of the series, Minalan the Spellmonger is the main character (the other four being Spellmonger, Warmage, Magelord and Highmage).Having once again successfully defeated the Goblins and their allies and minions, but at great cost to his allies, the Alka Alon, as well as maintained and increased the power, prestige and prosperity of his fiefdoms, Minalan finds himself obliged to support his Kasari allies in their attempt to evacuate their children from the ever-present danger of Goblin incursions.Thus this book differs from the others of the series in that it is not that much a mix of the building of the local infrastructure (of Minalan's realm of Sevendor) and epic battles, but rather one long quest as virtually the whole book (with interruptions underway) focuses on the one main objective: bringing the Kasari youth securely from one point to another. In some ways "Journeymage" reminds me of Tolkien's the Fellowship of the Ring if only because of all the walking.Mr Mancour himself (the author) has stated that the book was partly inspired by some of the values which are embodied by the Boy Scouts of America and some of the proceeds from the book will be donated to that organization. Bearing this in mind, lots of important elements of Journeymage can quite easily be associated with some of the most basic values that spring to mind when contemplating the idea of scouting: discipline, knowledge, honour, self-reliance, comradeship, an understanding of logistics as well as an appreciation of nature.Though focus mostly centers on the quest and the issues associated with it, the politics and intrigue of the previous books are not entirely absent and new players demand Minalan's attention if not his concentration. The crown prince of the new kingdom, the Duke og Castal (who is the son of the newly-crowned King, Rard - I think - the-first-of-his-name), who previously has only been mentioned by other characters and not made a proper appearance himself, finally emerges as a vain, entitled, boorish, arrogant, extremely ambitious but also somewhat intelligent young man.Seeing that the story mostly deals with one issue (the evacuation of the Kasari youth) problems from the previous books are not dealt with (and in some cases even escalate further in "Journeymage") and will probably explode in Minalan's face in upcoming instalments of the series, one being Master Dunselen's undeniable madness and local rule of terror as well as his marriage to one of the agents of the royal family's espionage network, who in the end might decide that Minalan is unable to police the Magi properly and choose to do him in (Dunselen that is, not Minalan).All in all, a fascinating expansion of the Spellmonger universe, though perhaps not the most intense instalment of the series. Recommended to readers of all ages.Pros- Well-written; no awkward dialogue, often engaging choices of words- Interesting expansion of the Spellmonger world with the introduction of new interesting characters- Lots of well-rounded, nuanced, many-faceted charactersCons- A few typos here and there; nothing major and certainly nothing that distracts the reader from the story- A number of information dumps (not necessarily a bad thing, depends on your personal preferences)The Spellmonger universe in reading order:1) Spellmonger (published in March 2011)2) Warmage (published in January 2012)3) The Road To Sevendor: A Spellmonger Anthology (published in September 2013)4) The Spellmonger's Honeymoon: A Novella (published in June 2014)5) Magelord (published in September 2013); Knights Magi (published march 2014) - takes place during "Magelord", but the narrative is different as the protagonist of the series is largely absent; Hawk Maiden (published January 2015) - same period of time as in "Magelord" and "Knights Magi", but once again told from a different perspective.6) High Mage (published in October 2014)7) Journeymage (published in March 2015)8) Enchanter (forthcoming)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. one of the best By R.Sierra One of my favorites series, love the spellmonger world, its easy to read, with a lot of twists and content, it has a great potential for at least 12 books, the magic system its really simple to understand but kind of mysterious depending on the race that use it, it has swords, magic, big wars, cavalry charges, dragons, kings, assassins, goblins, trolls, everything you get in a normal fantasy world but it gives a sense of reality with the writing style of the books, plenty of characters with tons of personality's and different agendas. If you loved brandon sanderson, will wight, honor raconteur, and heir to the nova then you will love this series.Want a main character that charges 100 goblins alone and has a talk with a goddess while taking a dump? ,then this is your book

Terrific By Anile By far one of my favourite series of all time; despite the fact that this book focuses primarily on fulfilling previously made obligations and acts as a placeholder book for the second cycle on the series its fantastic. The book continues the elements that made me love the previous ones throughout the novel. The incredibly intricate and witty characters and the scope of the world building included results in an incredible tale that i look forward to continue reading in subsequent sequels.

I have always been a fan of Highland romances and this one ranks right up there among my favorites. Heroine, Aileana, is like no healer you have read before. Her unique and amazing powers put a refreshing spin on 16th century Scotland. She and her talents do not give the hero, Toran, a moment's peace, keeping the tension thick and the action moving. With a vibrant supporting cast and viciously evil villain, Blair keeps you entertained from page one and does not stop until The End.

By Bev Spencer I really enjoyed a total getaway from the 21st century to the Highlands, history, castles and good romance on a fall day. Characters are strong and independent with just the right amount of lust and longing. Who can beat that! Well written with equally developed characters, I just loved it. Just the right story at the right time. I am so ready to take another trip! More please!

The descriptions of the fly were horrible, but not actually gruesome By Amazon Customer (I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review).(This review may contain spoilers).This collection of short stories was… well, I’m not sure what the exact word I’m looking for is, though ‘gruesome’ and ‘disturbing’ spring to mind. It was interesting to read a collection of stories that were all linked together.I thought each of the short stories were really well-written, even though the subject matter was particularly disturbing in places. While I did find some of the short stories a bit confusing and harder to follow, the ones I did understand were particularly effective and I was able to picture a lot of the events happening in my mind.Because most of the stories were so short, it was hard to really get to know any but the main characters. The Fly was a story that resonated with me. The descriptions of the fly were horrible, but not actually gruesome. Just the mention of creatures like flies and maggots is enough… and it was interesting that it wasn’t exactly clear if the fly was real, or just existed in Thomas’ mind. Either way, the main character’s descent into madness was described very well… and I couldn’t help but feel a lot of sympathy for Sionn and Clay. It was an interesting style choice, to show the story from the POV of the character who was gradually losing his mind.The first story in the collection, Skin, was especially gory. It did a good job of setting the tone for the rest of the collection, but I found it hard to understand why the main character in particular was in that kind of situation.by the end of the book.The short story with the transient was especially creepy, as was the one directly correlating to that. I wasn’t all that fond of the Ringmaster story, even though I did think that the idea of the carnival was an interesting one and something I would have liked more background of, since it seemed like a very… unique version of an afterlife.I didn’t really understand the story with the window… and the one about the ‘artwork’ was pretty horrible to read.I’m sure I’d be interested in reading more books by these authors in the future… and I’d be interested in learning more about the world shown in this collection of short stories.

Main I received an advanced copy of this exquisite book from the authors. I was delighted to receive it. Even more so to read it, and to thank them I would like to give my review. I allowed myself to sink underground and get behind the wallpaper and beneath the skin of these stories late at night in my basement office with the lights turned low. I caught chills and felt cool sweat form on my brow more than once. In the very first story I felt bone chilling suspense and looked at the rest of the table of contents as a daunting dark road to walk down. I am a huge dark fiction fan and I love this world. It's strange and quite frankly frightening and disturbed inhabitants already feel like close friends. This one will haunt you to the soul. By the time I climbed off the other end of the bridge back to reality and safety I was changed...and a lifelong fan. Carry on...into the darkness...brave "light" of the way. Though what you reveal may frighten us all. -Lynn E.
