5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Very Nice Book By Jim Clark This book has been enjoyed by many people this summer, as it has been displayed on the coffee table for all to look at. Anyone who lives in the "country" will relate to it. The photographs are beautiful, and thumbing through the book is a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon!!!

Even when they go to the country they don't stray off their immaculate veranda. Maybe I've just read too many design books but I found this uninspiring. There are plenty of nice photos of lovely houses inside, it's just that the authors seem a bit superficial and disconnected. These houses feel like ostentatious second, third or fifth homes, meant mostly to be displayed, not lived in. Handsome but empty.
