Satisfying conclusion to this story arc, especially since there are several spinoff series being contemplated by the author. I hope to see at least some of them come to fruition.
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. GREAT SERIES!! By CeceMarie I flew through the Dark Citadel series so fast & stayed up late reading nearly every night until the end of Book 5. Wallace is a literary wizard at creating new cultures in world's that parallel our won in terms of the loves, hates, ambitions, & fears with which we all struggle. The world of Mythl nearly comes apart as its flatlanders & northern kingdoms intersect in spite of their differences as the Dark Wizard battles the Free Kingdoms for control. A highly entertaining fantasy, the entire series is a study of the tactics of war, wizardry, & the quest for power intertwined with a tale of friends, families, enemies, & reluctant allies. At the same time, this an engaging coming of age story with a satisfying ending ripe with possibilities. I can't wait to see where Wallace takes us next!

That being said, I enjoyed the series, although like most series there are some real low points, especially when main characters spend pages agonizing over issues that shouldn't cause all the angst amid the more important plot issues. I give four stars because I read the whole series . I can't say the same about many multi-book series. Usually three books is enough for a good story, character development and conclusion. P.
