12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Good for Marines, not for target shooters By UncleWray This was an interesting read, but I was looking for a book on bullseye target shooting. I've heard that the Army manual is better for that (some of the Army manual is published on the Web). The Marine book would be very good for those wanting to understand Marine training on carry, maintenance of the 9mm service pistol, combat shooting, etc.

Truncale This official Marine Corp manual on pistol marksmanship covers all the basic and fundamental aspects of handling the 9M. It is a somewhat dated book; however, like most military manuals this one is written in a clear but formal manner making it a good text when used with actual hands on training with a Marine pistol instructor.This manual covers the following areas: The nomenclature and break-down of the 9m. Service pistol. Weapon handling techniques, Fundamentals of marksmanship, Pistol positions and grips, Pistol engagements, proper stance and shooting positions, two-handed and one-handed techniques, advanced techniques and low light and darkness techniques. A dated manual but a good historical pistol text.Under the guidance of a pistol instructor the use of the book will enhance the Marine’s skill and knowledge of pistol marksmanship.Rating: 4 Stars.
