The giftee knows the love and care that went into a present.This book is full of wonderful gift ideas. There are beverages such as "cranberry apple cider", "Pretty in Pink Cocoa Mix", and "Toffee Coffee Fun Mix", to name a few. There are also breakfast mixes that range from coffee cake to gingerbread pancake mixes. Cosmetic scrubs and toners are included, snack mixes, dinner mixes, and so very much more. There even "Pre-baked gifts in jars"! (Yes you can bake in jars!)All of the recipes and directions for assembling or using each gift jar is included to be put on a hang tag and attached. I have several gifts in jars type of books, but this one is at the top of my list.Victoria Lane has taken time to explain steps and to remind gifters to double check with the giftee to be sure that there are no allergies or objections to ingredients. (Someone might be allergic to or dislike nuts, for instance.)No pictures of each recipe, but the recipes are easy to follow. This book calls for mixing most ingredients vs layering them in each jar. It is a good book. The one thing I note that is missing is the jar size for each recipe. A notation regarding which size jars to purchase before beginning to assemble my ingredients. I am used to eyeballing a recipe and knowing which jar it will fit into, but I have been making gifts in jars for several years.

It is brief, at 12,000 words, but really enjoyable and a way to bring my thinking back into the very different world Lindsey has created.It's been a while since I reviewed book one, and I've read hundreds of books since. Nevertheless, once I'd read my review to refresh my memory I soon remembered the story – its one that so unusual with the world setting, the marrying of Egyptian mythology to a sort of time travel adventure set in modern times.It's a brief interlude into Marcus and Lex' lives, a snippet, a vignette of time, and gave us a bit more insight into the mystery that is Marcus. It's still a new world to Lex, and to fall in love with someone whose thousands of years old must be a real mindbender. Add to that the fact she's still young, in her twenties, but discovered recently that she's not just a human any more, and you can see how she must get confused. She finds out more about Marcus and herself by way of this novella, and we get to understand a little more of the complexities of the world building, and just what is possible in it....( lots!!)Stars: Five. A great read, though be warned you really do need to read the first book before this – not only will you be confused otherwise, but there are spoilers in this for the first book.ARC supplied by author.

Resonance (Echo Trilogy, #1.5) by Lindsey Fairleigh By Diane Lynch Marcus and Alexandra are in Florence when one of his sculptures is defaced, revealing a secret that Marcus has kept from Lex.Marcus and Lex definitely have a multifaceted relationship and the incident that occurs in this short story creatively points that out. Both characters are very well-developed and fascinating. Resonance adds to their intrigue.The story is well-written and original. Lindsey Fairleigh does a superb job creating a visual for her readers.Resonance is a cleaver and well done novella that made me anxious for the release of Echo Queen (Echo Trilogy, #2). I enjoy the couple’s relationship and cannot wait to continue their story.Complimentary copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

Jaw-dropping novella advances plot By MartyReads If you have not read the first Echo Trilogy Novel, (ECHO TRILOGY) read that before this novella or you will be lost...Lost in a world of Egyptologists that are more then they seem, and our Hero Marcus is WAY more than expected, and Lex our main character, is more than meets the eye, as well. Background and structure from book I make it easier to enjoy this little novella that even for the small size, has a full plot that *Advances the storyline * Accomplishes it in a VERY unusual way.Yeah: If you have read the first, this is a MUST READ. And I definitely recommend both :) Jaw-dropping level of interesting. Book two will become a necessity when you get this far in the storyline!

163 of 185 people found the following review helpful. Disappointed and a little robbed By Mary Garcia Please know now that I've read Mz Harris's books since high school. I love mysteries and strong plots, and usually, Harris's writing has never let me down. Until now. I'm not going to rip into the woman but I will say this is the first book I've read of hers where I was bored reading it. Worse than hating it, I didn't care about any of the characters or there problems. I think it was because all th characters had secrets, so many secrets, that i wasn't able to identify with any of the characters. When the mystery was solved and the killer revealed, I still couldn't care. I liked Figi well enough, but everybody (the characters) guarded their back stories so well that it made them all dull. When Harris let me know interesting bits about her Midnight cast, it was too little too late. Sad to say, I didn't enjoy reading this book; I dredged through it. Ignore or believe me -your choice. I'm so sorry Mz Harris.

Then I felt she descended into a pattern of description of clothing and food, and away from the characters themselves, which made for not very interesting reading. Still, I was willing to give her new series a try because I was hoping it would be fresh and exciting.I really shouldn't have bothered.The story is set in Midnight, Texas, and features the strangest group of people as very odd friends. There's young Manfred, new in town, and possibly psychic; there's Fiji, a young witch who is in love with Bobo, who owns the pawn shop. There's Lemuel, a vampire, and his often-missing girlfriend, Olivia; there's the Rev, a man of God who doesn't speak much. I could go on and on, each one more oddly named than the rest, and none of them particularly endearing. The story essentially revolves around getting to know the group and the disappearance of Bobo's girlfriend, Aubrey, whose body turns up almost halfway through. Not that I cared, really; no one is the sort you'd cheer for and the "gang" who is behind many of the attacks seems to be not quite as smart as a gang should be.I kept reading, hoping I'd finally get interested, and then mostly so I could write this review. What made the characters quirky and fun in the Sookie books is totally lacking in this book; there's just no spark. I may have been engaged a time or two, but overall, I just couldn't have cared less. I won't be looking for the next one.

Fitzhugh Do not waste your money or time.The Charlaine Harris we all love and expect to read did not write this book.Too many boring characters, too, too much description of food eaten, cloths, houses, and roads to be interesting.Who cares how the roast beef tasted or looked or what came with it as a side item?No real resolution of weak plot or character interaction.Hard to get into the first 100 pages-hard to get through this NO-action filled, No-interesting characters and No-substantial plot.The killer was brought into the story in the get any hints previously last 100-150 pages with NO development of character at all and we did not get any tidbits about him as a killer at all until the last part of the book.Ms Harris seems to have lost her knack for writing great characters, great plots and keeping the reader interested in the book. All she does not is write lots of descriptions of inanimate items just to fill pages and get paid.I will no longer buy her boring books if this what she has to offer.

For years we have been paying as much as $400.00 and now this reprint, though smaller, offers just as much joy as the original. No Sasha lover or art doll lover should be without it in their library, I have some pretty desirable doll books but I look at this one often and always see some new nuance. Best $50.00 you can spend.. plus its available for much less..

Fast paced By C Thilmany Larkspur, the bastard daughter of the king, is a powerful elemental, but as a child witnesses the death of her mother and little brother at the hands of the queen. Her powers are purposely blocked and she’s made to forget the incident. Looked down upon by all as being useless as she gets older, her last chance to keep from being banished is to become an Ender; a guard that prevents clueless humans from encroaching on their forest. Now she just has to survive the training and learn how to break the block on her elemental abilities; one most people would deny exists.Those who have read the Rylee Adamson prequel, Elementally Priceless, will realize that we’ve already met Larkspur in that novella which takes many years after this story does. Knowing the situation Lark is in within Rylee’s timeframe, I found it interesting to read about her beginnings and the difficulties she’s faced that put her on the road to where many of us first met her. And I know that had some influence on how well I enjoyed this story.Lark’s road is pretty rough but she’s also very determined to do what’s needed to be done. There are lots of surprises when it comes to the characters; one of whom is apparently the ancestor of a main character in the Rylee series.The action is pretty detailed and the threats faced are varied and interesting. But things move along rather rapidly and if I hadn’t known Lark from a prior story, I’m not sure I’d have felt I’d gotten to know her as well from just reading this one. This story needs some better character development.

I couldn't wait to see if her new world was as thrilling as Rylee's.I was not disappointed! Intrigue, murder and suspense were in good quantity and the heroine doesn't fall in love with the first two guys that say "Hey, babe. Let's go back to my tree and make some green energy."I enjoyed the trials Lark went through, not that I enjoy the pain of others, but because they were not explained too much before the events happened. It was believable, if that can be said about a fictional tale set in a fantasy world.Your heart goes out to the heroine, she makes you want to reach into the page and make it happen for her. She is left with questions and problems at the end but that's what normal people face after a crisis passes, you have to just deal with it.Over all, I would definitely purchase another book by this author and can't wait for the next one in this series. The first one had me laying in bed exhausted but unable to put the book down until I finished it. I'm sure the next one will be just as good if not better!

Beginnings of a Great Story But Average Execution By Kindle Customer I gave this book a solid rating of 3 stars because I liked the main character, Larkspur, and the story had great promise. Unfortunately, the execution of the plot was a bit sloppy--too slow in some parts, way to fast in others where important details are glossed over.Auxiliary characters needed much more development, but still I liked Cactus and Raven and yearn to know more of their stories. The book was way too short! The pace seemed on hyper-drive and I really just wanted everything to s-l-o-w down.There were countless grammatical errors (Mayer desperately needs some new editors) which detracted from the enjoyment of the book.

By Amazon Customer This is happening a lot - someone who doesn't have the best command of the English language gets some information from various places online and puts things together to create a "book" for a very low price. Read all the 5 star reviews; look at the names and notice (once again) that English does not appear to be the native language - the choice of words, how things are stated, all sound like poorly translated phrases. Don't waste your time or money on books like these. Look for the books that let you "see inside" to determine if it is actually a well-written craft book. These books actually have some of the strangest pattern layouts - mostly written out in "English" with none of the usual abbreviations, diagrams, line numbers, etc. I can't believe anyone can successfully follow one of these and actually end up with the item they thought they were crocheting!

The book gives you somegood designs - easy as well as some complicate ones and guides youthrough the process of completing these. I had great fund trying myhand at different designs and I have already begun to see some greatimprovement in my Skill and proficiency levels.

His writing may have the flavor of another author but for this reader comes as something completely new. What Horn gifts readers in “Timer” is a story that stays in the mind. What would you do if you knew exactly how long you have left to live? What would a society of people with expiry dates displayed on their chests look like? What choices would they make if there was a chance that your Timer could suddenly plunge from ten years to one day? Horn’s commentary on the culture of Timers is insightful and interesting and easily relatable to a non-Timer life.The story goes in some quite unexpected directions and this reader does not mind admitting that there were some scientific elements that were beyond me. While not a physicist, I could certainly appreciate the importance of the information in “Timer.” For this reader, the technical nature of the work mixed with its science amped up the tension and led me to the doubt that Horn would take his story where expected and, of course, he did not.Marc Horn is a wonderfully talented author who gives the reader polished and concise stories that leave us wanting more. I have previous likened this author to “American Psycho” author Bret Easton Ellis. I have no author to whom I could liken “Timer.” Horn’s latest masterpiece is something I have not seen before and I loved it.

It presents an interesting problem when timers appear on people's chests telling them how much time they have left to live. Apparently this is a manifestation of quantum physics caused by a scientist being held hostage. The problem is presented to a homicide detective who determines he has a problem with a serial killer and proceeds trying to solve the case. The book presents a unique story line that i haven't seen before, but keeps the book grounded by the presence of the people involved.

Most series novels require you to go back to the previous book/books to understand what is happening in the current story, not so here. Kudos! This story is well written as was the first. It grabs your attention and keeps it. VERY hard to put it down! I am 73 and have been an avid reader since 4th grade, reading up to 3 or 4 books in a day when I was younger. I venture to guess this author will have a great career. I keep thinking of "Pern" or "Valdemar" and I hope you are as successful.

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Great sequel By janicejoy Great book, I really enjoyed both Aegis books but enjoyed this one more as it was easier to keep the characters straight. The first book I kept stalling on the names trying to remember how they were pronounced & then trying to place the names with the character. For me there were just to many strange names to keep track of. So in that respect I liked the second book better although I really enjoyed both books. I did enjoy the fact that you didn't have to wait one or two chapters to find out what the other characters were up to. The book flowed very nicely that way. If you liked the first book you won't be disappointed with this one. I'm looking forward to the next book.

I loved the setting, a bit of futuristic style stuff and good action.I haven't read the first book in the series and it would probably help but now I will have too, this one just pulled me in too much to not go check it out! Aegis Incursion is definitely up there with some of the best action books I've read.

Teague Navarro, handsome, sexy and a real hands on man, boy he is good with his hands. He loved one woman, when she left she took their hearts. It was only going to be her.. only her, always her. Who once were together till secrets and misunderstandings torn them apart.Kelsey moved to Bear Canyon Valley to start a new job running a B&B. When Teague shows up to renovate the place she wonders how she's can be around him and not tell him why she left him two years ago or that she hasn't gotten over him.Thorne has created strong characters that definitely do her story justice. I enjoyed getting to know them and felt that they carried the story forward well. About the Author Colin Garrow wrote his first novel at the age of 16. Admittedly, it was only four pages long, didn’t have an actual ending and was probably the worst story ever written, but the creative spark was there and he’s been trying to be a writer ever since. Colin studied Drama at the University of Northumbria, and also has a Post Grad Diploma in Community Education. He was a founder and Artistic Director of WAC Theatre (The Writers and Actors Collaboration Theatre Company) in Aberdeen until the company folded in 2011. Rehearsal videos of some of his plays can be found on YouTube (The Body in the Bag, Towards the Inevitability of Catastrophe, No Phones on Planet Pluto). Although theatre and writing stage plays took up quite a few years of his life, Colin has also written several short stories, some of which have appeared in literary mags (SN Review, Flash Fiction Magazine, Flash Flood, Word Bohemia, Every Day Fiction, The Grind, A3 Review, 1,000 Words, Inkapture, Scribble Magazine…). He currently lives in a humble cottage in North East Scotland where he writes novels, plays, stories, poems and the occasional song. He also makes rather nice cakes.

Carter This selection of short stories is compelling, with all of them evoking very different emotions. Some are horrifying, others funny, others suspenseful, so the range is excellent. 'If the Worst' will have you laughing at Ellen's metamorphosis; 'Her Ready-to-Wear Life' is like one of the better Twilight Zone episodes; 'How the World Turns' gives a fable's p.o.v. on thermodynamics; 'Bed Death and Breakfast' is straight-up suspense/horror, cinematic in its intensity. Several of the stories sent me off on thought experiments, tangents, musings about my own life, an influence that fiction only rarely has on me. Enjoy!

Living for yourself, for you.” (14)These are a collection of soulful tales.Colin’s words are a playful dance of poetry when describing the simplest of objects such as a shed. However, there also lies a glimmer of confusion and disparity. I mean, what kind of fool drills a hole in his head? Weird. One of the stories had a “Norman Bates” quality—a B&B keeper is still holding on to his dead wife….literally! I thought that was a good one since I love Psycho.Although lyrical in prose, stories can be a little vague, which, I guess, can make them open to interpretation. All in all, I liked some more than others.
