Fontenot The home security market has needed a book like this for quite some time. The technology has been in place for a numbers of years to carry out the plans outlined in this book. What has been missing was a comprehensive survey of the product landscape boiled down into individual features and benefits which would allow "normal people" (i.e. not engineers) to make well informed buying decisions.Dr. Beers has done just that. I consider myself to be well versed in home technology but this book has uncovered products which I never knew existed. These products fill the voids that previously existed in deploying a self-installed/self-monitored security systems. The book is not a "how-to", but rather it is a "what-to", as in what product(s) to use to satisfy your specific requirements based on your situation.Given the synergy between my hands-on work with home security technology and Dr. Beers’ flair for research, analysis and presentation in this field, we have decided to work together on projects in the near future.
