In the strange new world, he meets Bones and Scrubs, two men who explain that he died in the real world, waking up with lost memories to find himself in a sort of twisted Hunger Games. It's kill or be killed, but the more bodies he kills, the more the hunger abates and the better chance he has of leaving Purgatory to go - well, could be Heaven, could be Hell. At the end of the opening section though, just like the old 'choose your own adventure' books from the 70s, the reader decides where the journey will take Blaze and which author to follow. This, as the introduction puts it, truly is an "interactive shared-world zombie anthology." - Theresa Derwin
About the Author Joe McKinney is the author of numerous horror, crime, and science fiction novels, including Quarantined, Dodging Bullets, and the four-part Dead World series. He has a master's degree in English literature and has worked as a homicide detective and a disaster mitigation specialist for the San Antonio Police Department.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Top-Notch Reading! By pvlimbaugh How will it end? Is that a question that you’ve asked yourself, ever? I have, so many scenarios and never a definite. This is what we find for Blaze, our protagonist. The story is set, a life has ended and what lies ahead must be determined.Six authors with very different writing styles explore the same story with very different results. Blaze is awaiting finality in purgatory. Will he find rest for his soul or be doomed to eternal damnation? Or, is there something else awaiting him? You, the reader, have been given choices to send Blaze on his way.This was quite the interesting read, each story takes off from the introduction given and takes you through a journey of the human spirit. Some of the authors give hope and others take us into the dark side. But, who’s right? Only you can answer that! If you are looking for something different to read, do pick up this book, I highly recommend it!
