About the Author Louise Placek undertook the transition from a 20-year, traditional career in nursing to the unknown world of owning and operating a small container plant business. Now, to help others with the same goal, she shares her extensive knowledge and experience in regard to becoming a successful organic plant grower and business owner. With her husband Chris, she bought a hilly, 22-acre site with sandy loam soil, lots of prairie grasses, an oak and cedar woodland with wonderful wildflowers and a 50-mile view. Proof that an organic nursery is possible By Larry3228 Heavy use of chemical fertilizer and pre-emergent herbicide is standard practice in the nursery trade. I have a small back yard nursery and I want to limit the use of chemicals. The best thing about the book is confirmation that a chemical free nursery is possible .The suggestion on how to feed the plants liquid fish emulsion fertilizer is ingenuous. Other than that there is a lot of general advice ad suggestions on setting up a container nursery with only limited space devoted to the organic topics. I was hoping for more in-depth advice.
