Moco As a life long animal lover and someone who works with children with reading difficulties, I can say that this book is revolutionary in the world of informative kid-friendly dog books. The illustrations are beautiful and diverse, representing a lot of different kinds of people and families, which is important so that children can see themselves in the stories.Something that sets this book apart from others I've read with kids is that it is breed specific, giving children a more in-depth look at the complexities of different dogs. I could see this book as a platform for a lifelong love and respect of dogs. Not only does this book inform about Golden Retrievers, but it involves the reader, posing questions that make the reader a part of the story too. One of my favorite parts of the book, is it's extensive glossary, giving the reader an opportunity to look up words for themselves in an easy and accessible way. There is even a sample golden retriever feeding chart at the back, bonus points for providing opportunities to learn about measurements!Overall, this book is very well-rounded, providing knowledge applicable to many areas of life, and at the end of the day, providing a beautiful, fun and easy to read story about Max, the Golden Retriever. :)
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Loved it!!! By Thriller lover This book is perfect for a child to learn how to train their 1st puppy and a whole lot more. It teaches kids about geography, food (what to feed your golden retriever and what NOT to feed him), manners toward the puppy and how to introduce him to friends and other puppies, and most of all, safe ways to show your new puppy how much you love him! I would recommend this book highly. Obviously, a lot of research was done for the book because it has a lot of information to teach children. Loved it!
