1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. This was a joy to read! By Lynn After reading just the first two stories in this book, I believe I experienced every emotion a human can experience! Such rich understanding of animals comes only with loving and caring for them. Ms. Mackintosh knows the animal world and brings it to the reader with compassion and a lot of heart. I would recommend this book to all animal lovers. I know I will collect all the books in this series.

Cave My heart-strings were playing such a tune: elation, empathy, amusement, sorrow, joy. I've known canines and felines like the ones described in these stories and enjoyed the fact that the author recognizes what I've come to know...animals are superior. I went through this book in one sitting and found myself reminiscing about the countless animals I've known or encountered. I spent a lovely, restful time reliving my own stories, the seed planted by Ms. Mackintosh's own experiences. The Appalachian James Herriot! I am so glad this is a series, I will own them all.
