Great follow up to Recon By ReineCheck Full disclosure - I received a copy of this book from the author at no charge, just a request for an honest review.I really enjoyed Recon (The Fringe Book 1) and have been eagerly awaiting the release of this next book in the series. Harper is such a fun character to read, and I love her complicated relationship with the mercurial Eli. The evolution of their relationship feels very real within the context of their circumstances, and you can't help but root for them despite all of their increasingly tough odds.The author does a great job of deepening the mystery surrounding the true nature of both the Compound as well as the people out on the Fringe. I like a story that draws you into the lives of the characters, and leaves you as mixed up by the details as they are. Exposure did this for me. I liked the personal growth exhibited by Harper and Eli as they each struggled to protect the other while fighting for their own survival in a number of very dangerous situations. The action in this book was intense and not gratuitous, which I also appreciated.Final verdict - Exposure is definitely worth the read.

However, after finishing, I also purchased a copy because I want to be able to support authors I enjoy so they can afford to write more of what I want to read!** This book took everything that happened in Recon (Fringe Book 1) and upped it by another order of magnitude! More excellent plotting, dialogue, and characterization just like in Recon. A bit of a shift here, though, as a warning: A lot of the plot takes place out in the Fringe, so there is a lot of Eli and Harper. Sawyer takes the biggest leap in growth of all the secondary characters and I'm looking forward to see what she does in Book 3. One great thing that Benner does in her novels is to incorporate reality into her characters, scenes, and environment. Example: The fight scenes and description of the dead level-read the book!-and its concept and usefulness are terrific. If you read her afterword, you'll see that she isn't just making things up to suit her needs; she's done the research. A standout among post-apocalyptic/dystopia offerings, start reading this series now before all your friends tell you about the 'great new author' they found!

I would rate this as my best realistic Dystopian series yet. The story builds up smoothly soon after where "Recon" ends. This book swept me into a whole other universe, I could identify with both the main character's feelings of pain, fear, sadness, desperation and happiness. The chemistry between Eli and Harper is tender, the suspense palpable and the plot absorbing. The story and her story telling ability were so intense and attractive that I had a hard time putting the book down.If you enjoyed authors like Marie Lu, Veronica Roth, then Tarah Benner should be added to your favorite list. Thanks for a super written story.

Half a good comic By Sam Quixote Occasionally - not often - a blurb will work on me and Brian K Vaughan saying Copperhead is his favourite new comic and one of the best debuts in years made me pick this one up. And right away I understood why Vaughan would say that: this feels like something a younger him would write!The opening scene is a train magnetically streaking through an alien desert landscape. Clara Bronson, our heroine and a single mother, is in the largely deserted carriage, her young son sleeping on the seat opposite. He’s sick after all the travelling, and she’s just focused on getting to Copperhead, the mining town where she’s about to start her new job.Some guy starts hitting on her, sits himself down next to her even though she asks him politely to go away and he puts the moves on her. Then another man appears, gallantly standing up for her and gets into it with the sleazy dude even though she’s asking them both to go away, her son’s trying to sleep. Cut to the train station where the train doors open, both guys hit the ground unconscious and Clara and her son step out. Yup - that’s a Brian K Vaughan scene and Clara seems exactly the kind of tough feminist character he’d write!But it’s not a Vaughan comic, it’s writer Jay Faerber and artist Scott Godlewski’s, and Copperhead is a fairly interesting blend of western, sci-fi and police procedural. Set in the future, humanity has mastered space travel and won a war against some aliens with the help of artificial humans - “arties” - and everyone’s learned to live alongside one another with the humans at the top of the food chain (of course).Clara’s the new sheriff in town who has to deal with a surly deputy, a drunk town doctor, a corrupt mine owner, a family of violent alien hillbillies, a rogue artie, and the untamed monsters that live on the outskirts of their town. There’s something about the name “Bronson” that seems to attract trouble, and Clara’s got to diffuse a tense situation between the locals, solve a murder mystery, and find her son all before she’s had a chance to unpack!The setup itself isn’t particularly original. Besides feeling like it’s written in Vaughan’s style, it’s your standard western with your usual sci-fi elements thrown in - it basically feels like Deadwood crossed with Star Wars. Clara could be any tough female lead, as is her headstrong son Zeke, while Deputy Budroxinfinicus (aka Boo) is essentially Batman if he were a giant talking hamster, and Ishmael, the artie loner, is 2000AD’s Rogue Trooper.Besides playing spot the reference, the whole police procedural genre isn’t my thing so I wasn’t too engaged with the comic just from the approach. That and the story of the stolen alien chotchkie didn’t really grab me - it felt like a very slight case for an opening book but I liked the unexpected addition to the cast at the end.Art-wise, if Faerber’s writing is similar to Vaughan’s, Godlewski’s art is much like Sean Gordon Murphy’s (Punk Rock Jesus, The Wake), so it looks pretty good. Hey, there are worse artists this team could’ve created their comic in the style of than these two!It’s tough getting the balance of introducing a world and its characters while telling a story at the same time in a first volume and Faerber/Godlewski do a decent job of that here. It’s a shame the entire book isn’t as good as that opening scene but it’s not a bad comic either. I also wouldn’t agree that it’s the best debut in years and it’s a long way from being my favourite new comic. The series might pick up in the next book or two but for now Copperhead is just an ok title that has its moments.

Copperhead, Vol. 1: A New Sheriff in Town By Marablaise Single mother Clara Benson arrives at Copperhead, a grimy mining town on the edge of a backwater planet to work as the towns new sheriff. But she hasn't even settled in properly before she has to sort of a fight among a family of alien hillbillies.The art is great, the story is great and I love the humor and I love the gritty outback town, feels like I'm reading about a planet in the Star Wars system. Yeah, it had really a Star Wars feeling this story, well except there is no force, and Jedi and stuff...Clara Benson is a cool tough women with secrets. I can't wait to find out why she picked that job. Is she running from something, or someone? Her Deputy sheriff Boo is a cool alien dude, I want to know more about him as well.4.5 stars

Clara Bronson is the new sheriff of Copperhead, a mining town on a planet reminiscent of the Old West. What makes science-fiction great is the same thing that made the Western genre great. You can have mystery, romance, intrigue, deception, politics, and all the other great aspects of any other story. It's just that both genres tend to get misused, becoming formulaic.Copperhead is anything but formulaic. No less than Brian K. Vaughan and Robert Kirkman have praised the book, and reading it, I can see why. I like the various alien species: some intelligent, some domesticated, and some wild. The natives of the planet are mysterious - we don't see them in full in this volume - but the story involves them on a couple of levels. I know what you're thinking, "so, this is another Firefly ripoff." No. This is perhaps better than Firefly, or at least better than the Firefly comics. I don't know how easy it would be to make this into a TV series because the aliens are so complex. It's a great comic. *****

The table of contents is clickable, which is good, so you can click to your country of interest. A bit disappointed. The publisher has missed a tremendous opportunity to create a usable tool for active banknote collectors and traders.

Its pretty useful, but I still can't give 5 stars because it's all in black and white, and some of the pictures are a little hard to make out. As I said with the other volume, it would be nice if they split this up into a few different books, and printed it in color. I wouldn't mind paying a little more for something that was printed in that way.I also found a lot of entries in this catalog that didn't have pictures, which was somewhat frustrating.

42 of 44 people found the following review helpful. Disappointed By fiber farmer I waited for a while to get this book and was very excited when it arrived. After looking through it for a couple of days now and taking note of the yarns, construction and embellishments, I have to say that I'm disappointed. I have several grandchildren that are the targets for receiving these hats and I was hoping for some really cute and quick patterns. What I have is a book that reminds me a lot of the small (albeit expensive) knitting brochures you get a the yarn store with a few patterns in them and suggestions for altering the basic pattern to create a different look.The hats are all based on the same construction. They're knit flat and sewn up the back. The top decreases are all basically the same for every pattern. In essence, once you've knit one, you can literally knit any of these (with the exception of the dragon, which has a ribbed neck warmer and a different construction).The embellishments are extremely basic and they're OK, but just not as exciting or adorable as I thought they would be--round, empty looking eyes; and stiff, stilted stripes and markings. The placement of ears and noses doesn't inspire, endear, or generate the "awww[...]" factor that other children's hats I've seen have. The ear flaps appear to be narrow and quite a few are shown curling up, which defeats the purpose of having them. Maybe my expectations were too high, but the idea of an entire book dedicated to animal hats seemed like a great thing for knitting grandmas and moms.So the onus is on me to adapt, beginning with knitting in the round for speed and a more professional finished look, adapting the ear flaps, changing the animal faces (which is always where I struggle, even with toy knitting) and using this book as an idea starter rather than a plug and play time saver. And so, I am disappointed, which is not to say that this book isn't a good one for someone out there.The photography is very nice, and the fox pattern is quite nice looking. The author uses easily substitutable yarns in standard weights and the gauge is done over stockinette stitch, which is a great benefit. There are a few matching accessories included--booties, wrist warmers, and such--that may add value for some. For me, they seemed less than inspired, but I haven't written a book, so it's easy enough to stand in judgement of that.To be fair, if you're a beginner and you're not comfortable with knitting in the round, this may be just the book for you. If you're gifted with personalizing and embellishing, you could really take the basic ideas and run with them. Sadly for myself, the "wow" factor just isn't there and I'll probably never knit even one pattern exactly as written. This is one that I'll give to a young child as they learn to knit or a brand new mom who is just learning.

The patterns are for different ages and sizes.The only thing I don't like is that each animal is made for only certain sizes. So if you want to make one of the animals for an infant and an adult you can not. The patterns are made either for an infant or an adult.

It was a very quick knit, the instructions were very easy to follow , and it was an adorable hat.I am an experienced knitter and some of the techniques were at an intermediate level.

This book offers little more than what can be found for free on the Etsy website, or online. I would return it, except the return shipping would cost almost as much as the book. Very disappointed with the lack specific, current information and overabundance of hype.

I learned absolutely nothing By NoBoysAllowed I gave this book 2 stars because, if you are completely new to etsy (if you don't even have an account yet) and have no idea what you are doing, this might be a little (emphasis on "little") helpful for you. As for a beginner-intermidiate like me, I am very disappointed. I have had a shop for a few years and was hoping to get some tips to increase sales. Well this book did not teach me one single thing! There's a whole section on uploading an avatar and banner ... seriously, I'm not incompetent! lol You can get more helpful information just by googling "how to make etsy sales", "how to get rich on etsy" (or something like that); on the Etsy website or in Etsy Facebook groups, for free.I hate leaving bad reviews but considering this is a non-fiction guide, there is absolutely nothing of value in here. Keep looking.

The "Getting Started" section at the beginning gives the basics from the Professional Organizer point of view. The terms used in organizing are defined simply in this section. The body of the book is broken up into easy to read sections that let me flip to the area that I want to concentrate on without having to read a whole book in order. It is as if I had spent years clipping all the best articles on how to organize my time, my papers, my garage, my business, and my closets. But instead of a box of clippings to sort through, it is all in this tidy, sanity saving book. I always know where my copy is because I use it so much.I would recommend this book to anybody who has ever been frustrated looking for an important document or is tired of having a pile of mail where the dinner plates should be.

The book not only lays out the foundation of what an organized life could look like, but also contains great tips and techniques how to get started. Ms. Diesel provides simple step by step action items so that the goal of an organized life can be achieved. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is eager to get started on the quest of a happy, organized life and who does not know where to begin. Even for an experienced organizer, I would recommend this book because it is such a great reference tool!

People in town made up those stories to rake in tourist money and sell costumes to idiot reenactors. If playing dress-up... Whoa!"Tim stopped the car. A wall of white mist covered the road ten feet ahead of them."Is that fog?" Jessica asked, brushing her long red hair over her shoulder."Yeah," Steve answered. "But why is it there and not anywhere else?"Kathy peered out the side window. The two-lane road was crystal clear on both sides of the car, but the line of fog blocked their path. Wilkins, in exchange for an honest review.This is the second short story I read, that is written from this author. That's the reason why I knew that I was going to enjoy it so much. The way this writer writes once again proved to be so smooth, with everything being well-described, as well as the appropriate details being given in all the right moments.The heroine was very likeable, something that was very enhanced and contrasted by the smart placement of a character most of us would dislike. That is also the reason why there could be a very wise lesson to be taught in the end of the story and is therefore stated right at the beginning of the blurb.The plot was quite enjoyable, and unlike most of what I've read previously! At first, I was a bit skeptical of the concept of ghosts, but in this story everything was described in a way that didn't leave me any negative thoughts by the time I finished the story. Quite the opposite, in fact.All in all, I award this short story 3.5 stars,thinking about giving ghost tales another chance in the near future!

Now I have to say this was a good ghost story By Autumn Fallen Over Book Reviews I received this book to give an honest review.Now I have to say this was a good ghost story. Gave me the chills a bit and makes me not want to visit anywhere where a battle has taken place after dark. This is a short but fully packed story that you feel full-filled. There is some cussing but nothing to major so I would suggest this book for teens to read if you are okay with the language. If not then for sure YA and above. It does make you wonder if there are ghosts out there from battles long ago who can not move and still live the battle every day. The author did a great job with descriptions and the characters. I hope the author keeps up with the ghost stories because she does a great job with them.

I felt like I was right there at this Gettysburg Battle. Great fun characters who all learn a lesson from their experience with ghosts. Disturbing the dead doesn't prove you're brave; it proves you're stupid.

As an art historian, I've spent years learning the academic facts about the Impressionists, but never picked up a brush until a few years ago. If you're like me, you don't really expect to paint exactly like Dawn Underwood, but this book just walks you through a number of the artist's better-known works and guides you to create a painting exploring the key techniques. If you do all the exercises in the book, you will certainly gain an enhanced appreciation of painting with color and light. I wish my art history professors had offered us an afternoon with brush and canvas instead of just slides and books. This book would be invaluable for teachers, and it would also make a great gift for anyone interested in learning more about the process of making art.

I liked the emphasis on personalization, encouraging the reader to find his/her unique approach to painting. My favorite part was the elaborate explanation about the science of colors.
