Gray My family (including three cats) has been living an overall organic life for about 4 years now. If we can do it naturally, we will. Living in Oregon has really made our decision easy and we all enjoy the lifestyle that has come from our decision. Not too long ago, one of our cats had bouts of vomiting that we couldn’t figure out. I downloaded this guide in the hopes that we could find an alternative means of assisting him instead of utilizing chemicals from our local veterinarian. Not only were we able to accomplish that, but the material inside has already proved helpful a second time as well. The author is an obvious authority on the subject of essential oil and cats because the manual is tremendously well written and intelligent.From the history of essential oils and applications, to a full list of medicinal terms and types of disorders, this guide is a densely packed compendium that possesses everything you would need on the subject at hand. The way the author provides the proper procedures for oil utilization and the necessary items involved is perfectly laid out and easy to follow. For example, when our other cat was found to have mites, the guide told us exactly what to do, how to use the raindrop method for application, and the length of time on average for recovery. There was nothing left to chance, and our joy at using natural materials for our pet’s maladies has been such a relief for us.In summation, we are definitely keeping this book in our library as a go to guide and reference for our cats from now on. By Terah Logan I have two cats myself, and I am also a fan of using essential oils for myself, so when I came across this book, Essential Oil For Your Cat, I was curious to say the least and decided to download.Susan Friske is very thorough in explaining exactly how the essential oils should be prepared and applied. She emphasizes caution, and gives clear and concise directions so that your cats can benefit from essential oils and not be harmed. It is obvious she is passionate about this subject and about being a responsible pet owner. While I feel she prefers a natural approach to healing cats, she does not balk at main stream pet medicine and veterinary care; she acknowledges that at times this is necessary.She covers a wide range of ailments, from physical to emotional, to use essential oils to treat; however, she also covers basic feline care so that many of these ailments can be avoided. This book is a gem full of great information, while at the same time, takes great care explaining that caution is needed, not just in the application of essential oils for your feline, but any thing regarding the health and wellness of your cat. I feel this book has sound and practical advice.

I’ve followed this series since the beginning, and its utter disregard for the audience’s sensibilities and needs are refreshing.This is science fiction at its frustratingly best. When you open a volume of Prophet, you are doing so on the narrator’s terms. You are entering a universe you do not recognize, and, such as with the real world, life goes on and has always done so despite your opinions on the matter.Prophet has some of the most detailed technology, alien life forms, and religion I’ve ever read in a book, yet the narrator delivers only the surface level of these things. Most of it confuses the reader, yet, at my core, I believe there is great depth to everything the reader encounters – we simply don’t understand. In Prophet, we are the true aliens.In the hands of different writers or artists, Joining could be an absolute mess. But it’s not. There is something beautiful about it, something otherworldly and transcendent. However, if you asked me to tell you what it’s actually about, I wouldn’t have a clue.Take heart, though, there is a little guide at the back of this volume that offers accounts of things we’ve previously wondered. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it explains anything clearly, but it does offer a new perspective.I’m afraid I am not completely happy with Joining, though. The characters from Youngblood continue to make appearances in this title. And while I know they all originate from the same place, Prophet has entered a world all its own and it’s jarring to see characters like “Shaft” and “Badrock” in such an otherwise original work. Keep in mind, I said the same thing about “Diehard” when he first appeared, but he has now won me over.I don’t know where this title is going, nor do I particularly care. I’m simply glad to experience it.

The entire book winds up feeling a bit disjointed since it deals with each story in turn, but definitely a must have.

And you'll probably gain new insight on every reading. The series has been all over the place, cosmically and even spiritually. At times it might be difficult to fully comprehend, but the story is out there, it really asks you to immerse yourself in what could be. The themes, the characters, the flow, they play in the realm of obscurity meets imagination, meets possibility, meets what the hell just happened? There's one more trade coming, and probably about a year away, it can't come soon enough. The art is by various artists and such an integral part of the story. For something different than most stuff out there, try Prophet.

The unique features about her animals is the information about the life and habits not found anywhere else. Her second book Butt Ugly Cats taught me more about cats than I have learned from living with cats for most of my life.The Butt Ugly Birds collection is amazing. Looking at the photos you will understand why the researchers feel that birds are descendents of dinosaurs. The Shoe Bill is an great example it looks more like a dinosaur than a bird.Many of these birds I know very well and they have been involved in my life. The one closest to my heart is the Moscovy Duck, who is not really ugly. I had five generations of these friendly creatures grow up in my front yard. I could write a book about these amazing birds. My stupid city rounded up and killed all the Moscovy Ducks because they were not native to Florida.A friend had a giant Wood Stork which spent most of it's time by their pool and I see the giant Brown Pelicans almost daily as it fishes the Florida waters. Author Daphne covers all the ugly birds including the standard ugly like the Condors and Vulture. But she also reaches out to the relative unknown birds. I was fascinated by the Sir Lanka Frog Mouth, this creature looks like a frog with feathers. Another very interesting example is the Helmeted Hornbill.This is a great book to share with the family. The photos are great and you will learn so much about the secret life of these Butt Ugly Birds.Highly Recommended!BTW... I am not into fish but I understand the author next book is Butt Ugly Fish, I will grab it the day it comes out as the first three books are so interesting and informative.

I thought it would be just a fluff book with pictures of ugly birds. I was pleasantly surprised with all of the content that went with each bird. I learned a lot and it was interesting. The one thing that was missing for some of the birds was a description of where they could be found. Each time I read about one of these ugly birds I was wondering if I could find it in my part of the world. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed the book and am looking forward to more.

Thanks for this series I really enjoyed reading thisand my students loved this. A great book to get some real interest in the story.

The Mage's Grave By Border Bunny This book has great potential, not for three things: an abrupt ending obviously designed to sell the next installment; too many faulty word and tense choices; and much redundancy within sentences. The word choices and redundancy caused reading backups to attempt to clarify the intent of the author. With all the backups and rereading I feel as though I read the thing twice. Nice world building. Decent character development. An interesting plot. With a good editor, this book shows great potential.

Woods Let me start by saying that part of my favorite sentence in this book was "...as they circled each other like squabbling tiger lions." I think with just that one line you can see how this book is written. As other reviewers have said there are plenty of grammatical problems and this definitely needs an editor.I think what I really dislike most about this book was that it was written in such a way that you'd hear most people thoughts along the lines of "Hey I should tell so and so about this and that" then in the next line or paragraph they would actually say "Hey so and so let me tell you about this and that."This could be a much much better book, it just needs a good editor (and if it already had one they should be fired and a new one found)

However, it was poorly written and edited. Grammar errors abound and sentence structure is poor. The author introduces concepts without explaining what they are or giving context clues to help the reader understand. I am sure clarity would come with time, but I am not willing to put that much time into something unedited. That being said, this author shows a vast amount of potential. I applaud anyone that can stick to writing a book until it is "finished" (I say finished, not polished). It takes a lot of effort to write and not many people can make it until the end. The cover art is brilliant and greatly influenced my want to read this book.P.S. I know there are probably grammatical errors in this post. People make mistakes. This piece is not a published work. It is a forum post for all intents and purposes. If this was a published work, I would make sure that it was edited and error free.

I kept putting the book down every dozen pages.The plot starts out as muddled over some mysterious tea deal, with much cross purposes tossed in, interrupting the flow of the story. Some elements made no sense. E.g., Skipping the send off party was inconsistent with the obsession with etiquette and was just an awkward excuse for the convenient vehicle of the characters' ignorance of their situation.Characters were less intriguing in this book than I expect from this author. There was a some character "recycling", where people from other books turned up with new names here. Percy is a doppelgänger for brother George of the Finishing School series and Quensel comes across as a blend of Soots and Felix. Primrose is Dimity, as a more self-possessed adult.Rue and Primrose have much less of the humor and dry wit that made Sophronia and Alexia so fun.The situations are as outrageous as the other series, but lacking any sense of danger or dread. Rue is just so unflappable, you always know it will work out... There is no suspense.There are appearances by major characters from Parasol, but they are flatly drawn and wan. Where is the crackle and snap they had in the prior books?I think I recall this book was much delayed by other projects. Perhaps that impacted the quality of this story?
24 of 26 people found the following review helpful. Not quite there By L. Allison I've loved Carriger's work up to now so it's hard to write a less than stellar review. However, Prudence s not quite up to her usual standard. Instead of new, unique voices for new characters, they sound like rehashes of earlier books...for example, Primrose just as well be Ivy or Dimity, less charming the third time around. Many older characters appear, but without their original cleverness. If you haven't read previous books, the characters are flat and none of them would be even slightly interesting. The book is often rather slow, in it's descriptions of landscape for example. Most of all, the wit and tongue in cheek humor is inconsistent and often missing. I have high hopes that Imprudence will be a return to Carriger's best delightful prose!

Good start to a new series By Nancy C All of Ms. Carriger's previous books have been loads of fun, and I expected nothing less here...and I wasn't entirely disappointed. I'd give this four stars, except the sloppy editing took away some of my enjoyment--pallet, palate, and palette are three different words that mean three different things. You can't use "pallet" for all three. Just saying. One or two typos are fine, but this went beyond that--I got the impression somebody hurried through the process and didn't care. So, a one-star penalty for rushing.Overall, this was mostly character development for what will (I hope) become a series, and very enjoyable. It lacks some of the richness of the earlier books, like "Soulless", although the author's clever use of language is thankfully still very much front and center. As other reviewers have said, you don't need to have read the Parasol Protectorate series to enjoy this, but you may find that you want to read that series to get the backstory on the adult characters.

By Nilah M So, instead of tinkering with my camera and putting it through hell, I bought this book and I am glad I made that choice! This book taught me heaps about lenses, focus, anti-shake features, how to use the principle of third while clicking a pic and how to introduce some depth in the pic. The books also has some great ideas around how to control flash, and use quick shade velocity! I discovered the ceaseless blast mode, which I love! Humorous language, practical tips. Great book!

I had the impression it was not written in English but translated, as many of the terms were not quite right or at least not common in American English. For example he used the word "foundation" where I would expect "background".

The author tries to appear tech savvy (read that as hip, slick and cool) at the expense of clarity and real nuggets of advice. He suggests a lamp harp to replace a tripod which he calls a lamp shade holder. Not only obscure but not a great idea.

Another action packed adventure!!!!!!Also the sexiest of the serial so far. Narah and Aeslin have a real lustful connection.I loved Narahs fight even though she was in incredible pain she managed to try and kick ass.Definitely one of the funniest installments of the series, I am loving the Turning banter between Edon and Narah.The twists and turns in this one leave your head spinning and pining for the next installment of the series, who will she choose does she have to choose. Will Hunter stay alive will the real Villain please stand up.Love Love Loved this installment and I wait with bated breath for April so I can carry on with this much loved serial!!!.I will most definitely be continuing on with this series.

About the Author Deemed ‘the father of the scientific detective story’, Richard Austin Freeman enjoyed a prolific career that saw him gain qualifications as pharmacist and surgeon, pull off a diplomatic coup along the Gold Coast, work for Holloway Prison and then become a formidable writer of fiction. He was born in London, the son of a tailor who went on to train as a pharmacist. After graduating as a surgeon at the Middlesex Hospital Medical College, Freeman taught for a while and then joined the colonial service, offering his skills as an assistant surgeon along the Gold Coast of Africa. He became embroiled in a diplomatic mission when a British expeditionary party was sent to investigate the activities of the French. Through his tact and formidable intelligence, a massacre was narrowly avoided. His future was therefore assured in the colonial service. However, after becoming ill with black-water fever, Freeman was sent back to England to recover and finding his finances precarious, embarked on a career as acting physician in Holloway Prison. In desperation, he also turned to writing where he went on to dominate the world of British detective fiction, taking pride in testing different criminal techniques. So keen was he, part of one of his best novels was written in a bomb shelter. For the first twenty-five years of his writing career, Freeman was to dominate and remain unrivalled in the world of detective fiction, introducing the well-loved and highly memorable 'Dr Thorndyke'. The continued success of this character has affirmed Richard Austin Freeman’s place amongst the finest of crime writers.

Eight forays into Edwardian forensics By Patto There are eight stories in this, the earliest collection of Dr. Thorndyke short stories, published in 1909. The emphasis is on forensics, and it will soon be clear to readers of twenty-first-century police procedurals that Edwardian science was impressively modern. A. Austin Freeman spent many hours at the microscope and the camera, examining all manner of potential evidence. Behind Thorndyke the forensics wizard was Freeman the Edwardian man of science. Freeman assured the reader in his preface to this collection that he confined himself to "authentic facts and practicable methods."Freeman actually invented and tested a diabolical murder weapon for one of these stories.The analytic details and Thorndyke's feats of inference are great fun. Thorndyke analyzes the soles of boots, a tress of hair in the grip of a murder victim, the dust embedded in an old hat, and sand found on a pillow. He sees through a cipher and identifies the cause of a nervous client's hallucinations.In the course of these cases, Thorndyke exhibits knowledge of optics, ballistics, tides and reap-tides, racial differences in hair follicles, minute properties of dust and dirt, and characteristics of different types of paper and ink. In the background are various human dramas involving jealous lovers, greedy relatives, and scheming crooks.Because the stories are so early, they're replete with Edwardian atmosphere. Colorful peripheral characters abound. The stories don't feel short because of the richly detailed narration.I loved this collection. Austin Freeman created a better detective than Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. His "Dr. Thorndyke" is Holmes with TV's Quincy added: a more logical detective who explains things better to the reader. Indeed, some of the stories are "inverted", i.e. you know who did it and how, but you follow the good doctor as he unravels the case. I wanna new copy of his cases!

This is a rather dark story about two twin girls who have been bio-engineered, although they were naturally born. The girls live in a feudal society where feudal masters have the power of life and death over their serfs. However, even the masters must scramble to obtain resources.The character of Lidia is well developed, although tragic.I don't want to write much more, since it would give away the story. I can say that if you like Bacigalupi's other work (especially The Wind Up Girl), I think that you will like this story.

By Randy Parsons A kind of dark fairy tale set in a bioengineered future. This is disurbing but also fascinating. Its hard to explain what the Fluted girl is without giving away the plot. I like most of this author's short stories. His PUMP SIX book has a collection of them. Most of his stories are sort of near future sci fi with a focus on genetics and post oil and global warming.

I'm intrigued by the way Bacigalupi looks at how women who are built, coerced, indoctrinated, and manufactured to serve and please men have a need, and find a way, to rebel. Enjoyed that aspect of his book,Windup Girl, and loved how this book went there again. I would enjoy his writing even if I didn't find his themes so exciting.

By Tracey Stevens I liked that it is easy for children to read and has a variety of characters forming early on in the series so interest is held. Unfortunately, it is not what I was looking for.However, the book itself is OK for beginners who are looking for simple objects like Christmas tree ornaments, butter and cookie molds, chip-carved pieces, tramp-carving, gouge decoration, silhouettes and more.For experienced carvers, challenging projects like toys, weather vanes, signs, noisemakers, musical instruments, cigar-store, animals and humans, caricatures, carved jigsaw puzzles and more.

Talks about blades, sharpening and pressure. Author even lets you know which finger is likely to get cut!! This book is a KEEPER for reference. Going in my library. Perfect ending to a great series By LexySky I was holding my breath for quite some time for this book - the last one in the series before that (Howler's Night) had a cliffhanger and my expectations were especially high. RS Black managed to surpass them all. The book is dark and breathtaking, it is cruel and funny, romantic and exciting, it has everything a good story needs and best of all: it doesn't compromise. It is clear from the start where this is heading and it doesn't stray from the dramatic and powerful path. Keep your handkerchiefs ready! Pandora is hope, she is a woman who knows what has to be done and is not afraid to do it, her strength is amazing, as is her love - and her Asher is just awesome, sugar pure and at the same time deadly and strong. But my favorite is Dean. His slow transformation throughout the series is so very well crafted, I couldn't help but fall for him. So grab your copy and delve into the dark pleasure this book brings from start right up to the very very end!If you haven't yet: Start with Crimson Night and then All Hallows Night, before enjoying the last two of Pandora's series. It would rob you of a lot of enjoyment to not read them in order. And they are worth every penny and every tear!

I have read a ton of great books. But this book...THIS book was by far the best book ever. The rollercoaster I was on was both brutal and beautiful! I have never cried so much in reading a book. But I was there watching it all take place, the way she worded this book let you seep into the pages and world with Pandora and her family and be there smelling the smells and feeling the joy and pain. This will be one of those books I will remember forever. When someone asks me what book they should read next this book this series will always be there on top! THAT is how wonderful it is!!! This series is one of the best series I have read to date! Do not pass the opportunity to live in Pandora's world! This series is a must-have!!!! I will be revisiting this series over and over again! I love me some Pandora aka "little demon"!

By Amazon Customer Honestly, having read the three preceding three books, I had already decided how I wanted the book to end, but Black obviously had other plans. R S Black did a fantastic job ending this series, it was absolutely perfect. The way she sets it up is with a plan, "Never not have a plan," however we don't get to find out what the plan is until the end, when it all unfolds. That was brilliant because we got to go on the ride with the other characters and feel their uncertainty and think "Pandora, what uh what are you you doing? Stop!", at least I did. Black was killing me for a while but it was all worth it in the end. By allowing us to see what was going on from many points of views Black allowed for in-depth character development that we got to see a glimpse of in Howler's Night. The flow of the story was great and she tied in the happenings of the other stories really well. Must read (but only after you've read the other three). A little 4.5 novella would be much appreciated! Just sayin'!
