However, it was worth it. The book develops the characters, particularly, Rylee. I think it would have taken away from a full Size novel, and not provided the depth that this book provided. So I can understand why the author separated this portion. I am looking forward to the next installment, hopefully I do not have to wait too long.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry as I read this novella. Miss Mayer, you've got talent and a whole load of guts! In this short story 8.5, Rylee is hurting, but she is still as sharp as ever. This was a fast paced story of dealing with grief but letting love into your heart at the same time. I'm not going to spoil anything, so let's just say, I look SO forward to the next book, Waking Darkness. Here's a summary of this teaser featuring my favorite character: Rylee, after some intense preparations will be ready and rested to take on the Destroyer. She has to heal. She has to morn. She must make deals with new mystical characters, and make peace with old enemies...That's all I can say. This novella just reminded me how brassy and cool Rylee truly is. And that mouth of hers!!?? Lol! I love it!Way to go Miss Mayer! Your juggling the new series coming out with Lark the elemental (Recurve) you have Gluttony in the works, AND Rylee is getting ready for the fight of her life! Wow. I don't care if I sound shallow or trite, you are THE definition of AWESOME.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Another AMAZING Story!!! By Barbara (Paging Through The Days) I am excited I finally was able to catch up and read Stitched! I was frothing at the mouth and it did not disappoint at all! I love Rylee and this struggle she has that goes back and forth is heart wrenching and exhilarating at the same time. Shannon has, once again, nailed this one to the awesome tree! I can’t wait for the next installment!***small spoiler alert***Rylee is in a state of shock, heartache and anger. Liam lost his life to save her and their child. Lost in her own world of grief she clung to the one thing she had. Her baby, baby Zane, Uncle Erik and Coyote were along with her as was Blaz. They were taking her someplace safe. Somewhere to have her child and gear up for her impending battle with Orion. Making a pit stop they pick up someone that promised to help. When Rylee realized where they were, little Catya was running from the place of their security and climbing up onto Blaz. The pain in her parent’s voices and eyes hit Rylee hard, she knew how the parents’ felt. She would be leaving her own child in a few months time. Catya had promised to help Rylee. She promised Liam. When they arrived at the sanctuary Rylee, always a fighter is a lot unnerved. Uneasy is to put it lightly. But really with her luck can you blame her? No. She is greeted by A monk and given a quick meet with a half human, half troll in order to keep the ever hungry Zane full. Kids don’t care who’s tit it is if they are hungry. As Rylee lets the thoughts and fears roll around in her she finally lets some of it out. That’s when she is greeted by a cat. Rylee, missing Alex needs that connection so she scoops the cat up. After a much needed nap Rylee does more thinking. And goes back to the dinner hall. After some talk a with the toll woman Rylee has a plan that if it works will give her much needed time with her baby. Time she may not get again once she goes off to fight Orion. When Blaz takes Rylee and Erik to the woods beyond the sanctuary to meet the woman the monk told her about they come across a snow leopard. Not just any snow leopard, not really a snow leopard. Its the house cat from the sanctuary. Her name is Peta. Blaz tells Rylee that she is a familiar to an elemental. Her elemental has been taken from her for almost 30 years. She helps Rylee to find the cottage and the ladies she seeks out. Once Rylee knows what is needed of her she takes off with Blaz and Peta, who is a list second rider. She is determined to help Rylee. So now the race is on to get what is needed to assist Rylee in partaking in this new journey. A bittersweet one at that. But one that she has take. The mission Rylee has set out upon is dangerous and a tad overwhelming. But in order to fulfill her destiny it was a necessary step. She gets more than what she set out to find. Her heart is full of love and she knows now, really understands what it is she has to do. When she gets her mission done she comes back to the monastery where she stays, works the spell she needs and has her child. After weeks spent recuperating, getting to know her baby and getting her mind into the right place its time to go. She has an elemental to find. The one that is destined to help her defeat the demon armies awaiting them. But first, before they do that its time to go home. Home being where her family awaits her return. Blaz, Riley, Peta and Faris, yes our neighborhood bloodsucker is there to accompany them back to England. To Jacks old home where they left them. One they check in there they will have a week to find the Elemental and get ready to face Orion. May the best woman win.
