The nation of Home and their ally Central seem to have bought some safety by moving Mitsubishi 3 from Low Earth Orbit to a halo orbit around L2 beyond the moon. It has added some expense to stay supplied, but it has unexpected advantages too. A little extra distance works just fine when Earth has its own problems. Like April and her close friends Heather and Jeff, Home is growing, developing its own character, and becoming more independent. They really have no choice.

Libell Mackey Chandler manages to keep the April series moving at a fast and interesting pace in this sixth book in the series. At the end of the last book, Barak was enroute to Jupiter, and April, Heather, and Jeff were consolidating their respective interests and industries on Home and the moon. This book picks up a short time after the last, with Barak now at Jupiter, April continuing to focus on earth's economic issues, Heather working to build Central, Jeff still being the go to guy for that needed technological miracle, and adds Dakota's daughter Annette and her trials and tribulations as she attempts to turn the old Chinese moon base (Camelot) into a self sustaining community.Gunny and his cohorts get some page time, and Mr. Chandler continues to thread many small plot lines throughout the book.Things begin to get tense on earth and Barak discovers that stupid isn't an earth problem, it's a human problem, and they carry it everywhere they travel. The earth situation is becoming a major issue that requires the efforts of all the major players on Home to deal with. Tough times are ahead and as always, April is the tie that binds the various efforts together.Problems. The number of plot lines makes this book feel unfinished because it doesn't seem to resolve any of them. This is not a real issue for me since I am invested in the series now and intend to stick with it, but it is somewhat irritating because it feels like a lot happened, but nothing was done.As in the previous books, Mr. Chandler spends a lot of time on earth news as a way to describe the crazy bureaucratic and religious regulations and moral standards enforced by the different countries. The deterioration of freedoms in the USNA is focused on to a large part. I found these interludes interesting but a little off putting after a while. It feels a little forced, and for all the discussions it still seemed like the military coup in the US was never really covered and I didn't see any difference in the old and new regime. This might have been the point, but if so, it needed to be a little more pointed.I thought the cover art turned out very nice, and Mr. Chandler's editing is improving. Still issues, but nothing someone who reads self-published novels would look askance at.The price is creeping up, and I noted a review discussing it, but that is something for another forum. The question is whether it is worth the price, and at the moment it is.So...an excellent follow up that keeps the story moving at a nice clip. A lot of interesting things going, but you will have to wait for the next book to see how most of them turn out.Worth the price, and I found it to be a single sit reading.

When I got to the end of the book it just sort of left you hanging in the middle of the story. There was no real conclusion to any of the plot lines in it. Sadly it felt as if Mr. Chandler just got pressured to release the book as is or got tired and just published what he had done up to that point. Don't get me wrong I loved what there was but after finishing it I didn't feel like I got a full book/story. That is problematic especially given the 4.99 I paid for it. Most of his books I have purchased were 2.99 and a great value in my opinion. I spent the 4.99 because I really love his writing but regret it now based on my perception that the story was was not a complete story. I went back and looked at pricing to compare his old books vs new book pricing and noticed that he has raised the price of all his books to 4.99.Mr. Chandler,I actually am ok with paying 4.99 for one of your books because I love your writing that much. Maybe I should say I love your stories that much. However I don't feel as if I got a complete story with this book. I went back and looked at the published length of the other stories in this series and you started out at over 500 pages in a story, the majority running in the 300+ pages while this book was only 286 pages. I still wouldn't have complained if this had been a full story with a beginning and an end. I'm not sure how to wrap this up other than to say I love your writing but if your going to charge me higher prices then please let each book be a full book standing on its own and not be a chapter in a serialization. I expect a beginning, middle and end to most of the plot lines for that book. For anyone reading this I don't want to come off as being really harsh about Mr. Chandler over all. You will not regret reading his stories, he is a gifted story teller. This one book, though I loved what content there was in it, just doesn't meet my definition of a full book. Personally I would at this point re-label it as April Book 6 Part 1 and drop the price to reflect that and turn it into a two part release.I gave the book a 4 star rating because of how much I like Mr. Chandler's writing in general. If he was a new author and this was the first book in the series I would have given it a 3 star rating based on how much I like what was there but that it wasn't a finished story. I have consistently given 5 star reviews to all of Mr. Chandler's other books.

By Armed Serenity As much as i want to give a 5-star for this book, i can't.It doesn't have the same epicness as the previous 5 books. First off, the delay in the book cover... since the author placed so much importance in it, i'm going to comment on it. Limb ratio is all wrong... or is that cybernetic? It looks like one of the arm is severely atrophied. There's no indication of cyber tech in the book. Also suit looks....off, tech base and time base...helmet looks like a 1970's football helmet.Secondly, I think a great majority of the author's fan base can do a better job editing this book, i suspect the editor just used autocorrect.Third, the book seems to be written on a on-and-off basis. Cut and Paste ideas. A lot of characters are missing, what does Happy Lewis think of the current situation? Where is Otis? or what happened to Wiggen's bodyguard? First there was only Papa-san, Chen, Eddie for the intel dept...now Home has a global intelligence without it's evolution being discussed.(That in itself could have been April Book 6.1).and Lastly....a lot of the conversations are in paragraphs...with little back and forth, literally made my brain gasp for air... And lastly....The USA geopolitic... is fubar. No mention of any patriotic party... they wanted power, they have it now... but are continuing to let things slide, a lot of the things happening in the USA don't make any sense.
