The author, IMO, is not a contender for top dog title in this genre, but the story and characters are good, and the 4th book for Alistair and Paige is particularly good, having garnered a lot of expectation and tension from book one. I looked forward to the final story as climactic, but also because I'd felt empathy for Blake from book one and wanted him to have his due. Sadly, this last book in the Secret Series sorely disappoints. It was short in action and suspense and long on repetitive character thoughts and angst. Instead of savoring this last in the series, I rushed through it, eager for it to be over. It leaves characters that deserve completion in a void, especially Sam, while still not compelling us toward those stories because the quality drops so severely. If you're a fan of the series, it may still be worth it to finish the read, but I wish I'd stopped at book 4.

They capture your emotions and pull you in...laughing and crying and being at the edge of your seat. I really wish there were more books because I can't get enough of these guys...I want more! I have fallen in love with these characters and hate to let them go!
