Because apparently NONE of it is true!Here's what the publisher proclaims about this book as soon as one passes the cover and title page:"This book is a work of fiction. Any references to historical events, real people, or real locales are used fictitiously. All characters appearing in this work are the product of the individual author's imagination, and any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead is entirely coincidental." Except for that pronouncement, EVERY other aspect of this sham (picture of a dog, Acknowledgements, Table of Contents, photo of a dog and man after a story attributed to Thomas Ford Conlan (with the caption: "Photo provided by Thomas Conlan"), etc.) looks sounds and feels like it's real. Why would one resort to fiction to produce such a book? Maybe better questions would include: "Is this really an "anthology?" And, if "This book is a work of fiction" as the publisher attests, how "real" would be the proposition: "All proceeds from the sale of this anthology go to Michigan No-Kill Shelters" (to help find permanent homes for dogs in need)?
