Complex, beautiful, occasionally humorous, and never dull sci-fi adventure By Kitty Smith Like all the books of Bloom's "War of Alien Aggression" series, this one starts off hard and fast and never slows down. When Captain Garlan gets a look at what Commodore Ram Devlin and the Shediri have done to his ship, the Doxy, he's knocked for a loop. Now part of the Liberty Fleet, it's become a hybrid of human and alien technology, and he's the captain. What he doesn't understand is why, when Devlin could have had any crew he wanted. For Devlin, the choice was clear. He needed someone he could trust not to betray him to Staas Company for a bit of coin or power. And of course it isn't long before the company sends someone to try to convince Garlan to do just that.Love the illustrations along the way, really helped me visualize the ships. Bloom did a fantastic job of bringing the story to life, no small feat when you're writing about insectoid races and space ships and things that only exist in the mind of the writer. From whip-tailed creatures that clean the air to worker bugs that hiss and clack, the way the Shediri laughed when they heard Garlan's name was Foet, which in Shediri translates to something less than flattering, the gag inducing honor of sharing a drink with the War Consul (Where's Steve-O when you need him), the Shediri are brilliantly developed. The end result is a complex, beautiful, occasionally humorous, and never dull sci-fi adventure. I've read a few of the books from the "War of Alien Aggression" series and they've all been spellbinding. Great book, awesome series!

Tense battle-action By Catherine Mackay Well the only sad news after finishing this installment is that now I have to wait for the next fast-paced, action-packed installment in the War of Alien Agression :( I really enjoyed 2166- Battle of Shedir which indroduces us to Captain Garlan Foet and his crew who are hired on as part of Liberty Fleet by Ram Devlin. He gets his old ship, the Doxy back after it was taken by Staas Company, but he is none to happy about the new alien modifications on 'his' ship. There is more unhandedness from Company man Cyning - man I am really starting to loathe this guy; he is one very repulsive fictional bad guy. The Ekkai, who are the new Imperial enforcers, have some bad-ass new tech for Devlin and UN Captain Chun to deal whith, while some how figuring out how to protect their new allies, the Shediri, from being massacred. Of course Cyning and Staas Company machinations try to thawart their efforts - will the integrity of both Captains hold up under such pressure? Bloom really has out done himself with this installment - the character development of human characters and the Shediri is excellant; battle action - with some fab illustrations - are fantastic, tense and really suck you in to keep reading; great plot-lines; well-crafted bad guys - you can't go wrong with a slimy character like Cyning; and of course let's not forget that Margo and Hank, the clones of Matilda Witt and Harry Cozen, are in the background doing what they do best - under-handed skulduggery. Highly recommend this series.

The vivid way that the planet of the bugs was described made the alien world almost pop from the pages. This is not the first book I have read in this series, and this author continues to turn out quality work. 2166- Battle of Shedir has it all, epic battles, humor, and great characters. Another thing I love about this series is the fact that all the books are enrolled in Kindle Unlimited. A lot of books these days tempt you with the first book and then charge a lot more for the second, or don't put it in the unlimited program- I have been able to borrow every book in this series, and it has made an already great book even better.
